New clouds for air battles
Attention! Outdated news format. Content may not display correctly.
In War Thunder update 1.89 “"Imperial Navy” we are improving the clouds in aircraft battles at high graphical settings.
Hello everyone!
We are getting ready for War Thunder update 1.89 “Imperial Navy” - it will be introduced very soon. Today we want to show you how clouds will change in aircraft or helicopter battles at the graphical settings “Movie” and “Max”. Technically, our developers have been able to increase the integration steps for clouds rendering by 4 times whilst avoiding visible FPS changes.
New clouds for air battles will appear in the game with update 1.89 “Imperial Navy”. To see the new clouds, you have to switch graphical settings to “Movie” or “Maximum”, or have SSAO enabled to maximum.

Can we expect lights rework too ? On some weather configuration the sun is like a nuclear detonation flash. Anyway nice work, it look like a little bit more like real vapor.
That looks very nice!
That's a nice change, they look definitely better. But also please reduce the thickness and extension of them. It simply isn't fun or engaging in any way if they cover the entire map/main AO and reach from 1 km to 6-7 km or even beyond.
Awesome! This was needed and I can't wait to see them in game!
So they've just blured them a bit, and called it a day, huh...
Well.... If I still am able to spot planes better through clouds than on the open sky then the system. Is still flawed. Currently the best tactic to spot planes that are not marked is to get clouds between them and you. Suddenly they are easily recognizeable as little dots over white background. Funnily enough it's harder to spot planes that are close to you in clouds compared to planes that are further away. So no I don't think I am convince by the new cloud changes...
even worse, in ULQ it is the opposite, an aircraft can completely disappear if it is between you and a far-off cloud
Nice work. Are you aware of the bug with ULQ settings where plane models disappear entirely when they have clouds behind them and are more than 0.7km away from you? It makes Air RB very hard to play since there are no dots like in the other settings and planes are completely invisible if they are approaching with a cloud behind them.
Are we getting the old clouds back that doesn't magically disperse around the player or just a simple retexture? I still don't get why the clouds were even changed in the first place, the old clouds were so much better than current one...
Runnin' down the avenue See how the sun shines brightly in the city On the streets where once was pity Mister blue sky is living here today, hey hey
Lovely change. I didn't think I could be excited about clouds.. I was wrong.
