In the upcoming update 1.77 “Advancing Storm” for War Thunder, fans of British aviation may look forward to the release of updated high quality models for both currently present Spitfire Mk.V versions in the game. As a bonus, two further modifications of the aircraft will become available to all War Thunder pilots. Let’s take a closer look!
The Spitfire Mk.V can easily be considered a War Thunder veteran. Being part of the game from the very beginning, this machine, like a number of others, has been put through countless aerial engagements over its five-year service life and the scars of battle have slowly started to show on the old Spitfire. With that said, we have decided to rework the models of the Spitfire Mk.Vb/trop and Mk.Vc/trop and give them both new, high-quality textures and models that meet our latest quality standards for vehicle models. In comparison to the current in-game models, the new ones received a much higher polygon count as well as updated HD textures that bring them in line with the other recently updated Spitfire models. However, it is said that a picture is worth a thousand words, so take a look at the renders of the updated models below and see for yourself what a stunning work our 3D artists have done.
In addition to the updated tropical models, update 1.77 “Advancing Storm” will introduce two further modifications of the fifth major Spitfire variant, namely; the standard, non-tropical versions B and C. These, in comparison to the ones already present in the game, do not possess special modifications that optimize their use in tropical conditions. One such modification and the most notable one, is the dust filter located under the aircraft’s nose. This feature is removed from the non-tropical versions and in turn, offers a slight increase in performance due to the savings in weight and reduced drag. The good old Mk.Vb/trop will also appear as a new premium vehicle in the Italian aviation tree at rank III.
Meet the new and improved Spitfire Mk.V models in the aerial battles of War Thunder with the upcoming update 1.77 “Advancing Storm”. Don’t forget to stay tuned to the news to keep up to date with the latest developments within the War Thunder universe. See you in battle!

Very nice ! I've always liked the Spitfire Mk. Vc. Was looking forward to the Spitfire Mk.V non trop. That's great :-)
If your a fan of the Mk V, you have 5 Mk Vs to look forward too now including the Italian one :)
I’m looking forward to the Vb... I really hope they made the arcade br 3.7. I know the new Vc is going to be something stupid like 5.3 or 5.7.
Yay axis p-47 & spits vs allied p-47 & spits... hd models look good though..
isn´t it now: axis p-47 & allied spits vs allied p-47 & allied spits, the premium spit looks like it belongs to the allied-italian-part.
stefffff1871, yep, it's a Co-belligerent spitfire and one more look at Bf.109G-14/AS of the Aeronautica Nazionale Repubblicana which is with a roundel sign in the name #facepalm
Any chance of seeing Pokryshkin's P-39N-0 being available to acquire today?
How about the P-40-E1 model ? That plane deserves love Gaijin
We are working through all of our older models. For 1.77, it was the turn of the Spitfire V series. The P-40 will have its day :)
About time! I'm just sad that we don't get the clipped wing LF Mk Vb.
I was hoping for the clipped Vb to! One of the best looking Spits imo
Awesome! I love these remodels and non-trop variants were requested a lot. Thanks. Really beautiful models.
the P-40 Warhawk variants p-40B P-40K P-40F P-40N XP-40 P-40G XP-40Q Twin P-40 : A single photo exists of a P-40 mocked up with two Merlin engines, mounted atop the wings, over the main landing gear
The model is wonderful but I must be honest: it is EXTREMELY DIFFICULT to accept the italian Spitfire, although historical. Probably in the end I will purchase it because I am a collector, but it looks to me you are repeating the mistake of german P47 and I am extremely concerned.
I couldn't agree more! Even after owning the Hitlerbolt and clubbing hard with it! I'd give up my Hitlerbolt and other captured vehicles away for more immersive gameplay! I really Hope the Italian Spitfire doesn't make it to the actual update. Gaijin please reconsider!
You'll update so many planes several times, but you won't update the A6M Zeros despite them being one of the oldest, dated models in the game? This is pretty insulting considering how many people have asked for it. The A6Ms look ancient in the game and have inexcusably low res textures riddled with errors, and the models themselves are exceedingly low poly compared to everything else. You have updated pretty much several British and American aircraft, but not the single, sole Japanese A6M. Why?
Of course it's an insult. Everything is an insult if you try enough. Please stop being ridiculous. We update models one by one. Sooner or later, as I predict, all old models will be updated. Stop searching for some silly conspiracy everywhere.
Stona_WT, Then can you explain why in the past you have said you don't plan to update the A6M's model specifically? Can you explain why the Japanese Ki-43 doesn't have an engine modeled but the American captured one DOES, despite being the same aircraft? Can you explain why when you add new versions of aircraft in HD (Ki-61, Ki-43) you do not go back and make the original variants HD like you do for other nations? Please.
Why didnt your make an American version? The USA flew the mkv and mkiv heavily! But still glad to see your polishing the game. Make a dream come true! Add more USA spits!
The USA already has the IXc variant as a premium and dont really need any more Rank III premiums that are not unique at the moment.
Smin1080p, I could be wrong but I thought the customer is the one that the business is supposed to satisfy? This is just another example of war thunder telling the customer what they need and don’t need. Comparable to a zoom feature, or binoculars feature for be user... I guess another one bites the dust.
