In the upcoming update 1.77 “Advancing Storm” for War Thunder, fans of British aviation may look forward to the release of updated high quality models for both currently present Spitfire Mk.V versions in the game. As a bonus, two further modifications of the aircraft will become available to all War Thunder pilots. Let’s take a closer look!
The Spitfire Mk.V can easily be considered a War Thunder veteran. Being part of the game from the very beginning, this machine, like a number of others, has been put through countless aerial engagements over its five-year service life and the scars of battle have slowly started to show on the old Spitfire. With that said, we have decided to rework the models of the Spitfire Mk.Vb/trop and Mk.Vc/trop and give them both new, high-quality textures and models that meet our latest quality standards for vehicle models. In comparison to the current in-game models, the new ones received a much higher polygon count as well as updated HD textures that bring them in line with the other recently updated Spitfire models. However, it is said that a picture is worth a thousand words, so take a look at the renders of the updated models below and see for yourself what a stunning work our 3D artists have done.
In addition to the updated tropical models, update 1.77 “Advancing Storm” will introduce two further modifications of the fifth major Spitfire variant, namely; the standard, non-tropical versions B and C. These, in comparison to the ones already present in the game, do not possess special modifications that optimize their use in tropical conditions. One such modification and the most notable one, is the dust filter located under the aircraft’s nose. This feature is removed from the non-tropical versions and in turn, offers a slight increase in performance due to the savings in weight and reduced drag. The good old Mk.Vb/trop will also appear as a new premium vehicle in the Italian aviation tree at rank III.
Meet the new and improved Spitfire Mk.V models in the aerial battles of War Thunder with the upcoming update 1.77 “Advancing Storm”. Don’t forget to stay tuned to the news to keep up to date with the latest developments within the War Thunder universe. See you in battle!

Hey Gaijin can you add some more skins for this beautiful aircraft, I really miss more ingame skins, thanks!
allied planes vs allied planes... cmon gaijin can we get some originality here?
It has been 4 years since you revealed the finished techtrees and i dont see the p47d15 or the b24j yet.when we will we get them? Also replace the b17e/l with the b17f plz
The Italians will become excelent turn fighters at rank III with Spitfire Mk V. Great news... Having the P-47 massacre in German and Russian teams was not enough?! We have like 20-30% of German teams consisting of premium BV-238 and P-47s. What is that?
Really happy to see air RB getting some love, thanks! Makes me excited to return to some spits for a bit. I know theres a lot of stuff youre working on right now, but any plans for earlier p-47 variants like the C or later p-40 variants like a K, L, or M? Im assuming more italian and french planes are probably higher priority though.
I look forward to the patch when early Panzers gets this kind of treatment. I mean panzer II looks shiiiet, aswell as panzer III, IV and V and VI B.... so all panzers needs this kind of treatment. Especially roadwheels, suspension, tracks look extremely shiit, and just the overall too. Panther has always had some overall weird off look too it, same as Panzer VI B. Also the early panzers need the dunkelgrau/braun camo! And all panzers need correct grau to even start with!
Nice work! Been looking forward to this model update for a while! And the standard Vc looks gorgeous! Little sad the standard Vb isn't the later clipped winged variant to take on the FW 190s but we can't win them all I suppose! Now what I'd really LOVE to see in the future is a British Pacific Fleet Seafire LF Mk III to fill that gap in the Naval Fighters line!
very nice! there will be never enough spitfires in game (pierre clostermann's lf mk.IXc french premium maybe? ) :) BUT can you pls make cockpits openable also on all merlin spits? i know, it has no influence on fly model, but it's pretty cool feature.
This is very nice. I always felt the Vokes filter "spoiled" the looks of the Spitfire Mk.V. Do you happen to have any plans to give the same treatment to the Hurricane Mk.IIB and Mk.IV that are currently equipped with the Vokes filter in the game?
Spitghetti That's a horrible pun
