Ni hao, dear friends!
We’re pleased to announce a new nation making their entry into War Thunder update 1.91 - China! One of the oldest civilizations in the world, with a rich and dramatic historical background, especially during the 20th century.
The initial line-up of Chinese vehicles available in War Thunder features tanks, fighter aircraft and bombers which were used during World World II and shortly thereafter, and will show just how turbulent the history of the country’s military in the 20th century was. Players will be able to pilot aircraft employed by foreign volunteers from the Flying Tigers regiment which helped China fight against Imperial Japan, make use of captured Japanese vehicles, and command military imports from the USSR, as well as local variants of Soviet MiG jets and American Patton tanks (which formed part of China’s military).
Each vehicle in War Thunder’s initial Chinese vehicle tree was historically used by the nation of China at some point. The Henschel Hs 123A-1, for example, was imported by the Chinese Nationalist forces from Germany, and was used against the Imperial Japanese Navy during battles at the Yangtze river.
Immediately after the release of update 1.91 “Night Vision”, all players will gain access to an initial selection of Chinese ground-force vehicles and aircraft.
Players who wish to gain access to the entire Chinese tech tree as fast as possible can do so by fulfilling a series of in-game tasks in War Thunder, or by purchasing one of the Chinese pre-order packs that include a premium vehicle, in-game currency, premium account time, and cosmetic items. One of the packs will grant access to the aircraft tech tree, and the other one will open the ground vehicles tech tree.

I've been playing this game for six years and I've never this game and community in such disarray. And there is fault on both sides, for one, the community wants things into the game, Gaijin either implements them correctly (or makes the brs/matchmaking broken in the process by not compressing brs and etc.) or doesn't listen to the community altogether and does their own thing thinking that's what the community wants. For example instead fixing the paper panzer problem they ran away from it...
... And the community's issue is that when Gaijin asks the community what they want, they get a lot of responses that sometimes are incoherent/lacking evidence or reason, or actually good logical ideas. The community has failed to unite until now about one single topic that should be focused on. (Evidence: Aforementioned example about the maus/paper panzer problem.) When the community spams the #fixthegamein1.91 it doesn't help necessarily with the main issues of the game. So the solution is ...
matthb, ... to unite on one single issue the community all agrees upon, appeal to Gaijin about the issue, and get the issue fixed the correct way with no repercussions to the game's structure and balance. And to have these things fixed, the community needs to discuss this in a civilized manner instead of heckling at each other and respect one another's opinions and if need be, debunk opinions that you (in context of the reader) disagree with. Then if these simple steps, we can have fun in this game.
as a "free to play" in war thunder this tech tree will be something I will enjoy, but those who spent money on the game most likely will get mad because premium vehicles that they may have paid for are right here for free, other than some gameplay for grinding. overall a nice touch other than vehicles from other nations (at least the non prem ones) and I would like to see how Chinas vehicles perform so yeah this is cool
when will the dev server be open so we can try some of this stuff?
Soo, will chinese tanks have the possibility of being present on both teams at the same time on RB matches given the diferent ideological, political and militaristic alingment of the two countries that compose this tech tree or is this just another "Death to Germany" nation that will be stacked on the already one sided "Alies vs Axis" so Germany has to deal with even more anoying spam of the same vehicles with close to no suport from the other Axis nations since almost no one plays them?
To my knowledge the ROC received un-gunned M10 carriages. These were extensively modified and armed with ex-IJA Type 91 105 mm Howitzers and a .30 caliber machine gun added to the hull. There is an opportunity for something more original here. I have not seen any evidence of regular M10s in ROC service.
Of course the Chinese tree is to a large extent copy-paste. What else could it be? China hasn't had that many indigenous vehicles until very recent times. There are already many Chinese players of WT, not to mention the huge potential. Adding the Chinese tree simply makes sense from an economic point of view, and it even doesn't require that much effort, as most of the vehicles are already extant. All this should imply more resources for Gaijin, also for addressing older issues.
Sure, I personally would have much rather seen a Swedish tech tree. Unlike China, Sweden developed an amazing number of indigenous vehicle during the 20th century. And a number of Swedish vehicles have been highly innovative, with technical solutions different from their contemporaries. But, unlike the Chinese tree, a Swedish tree would require a big effort to serve the small player base interested in the little-known vehicles of the small country that essentially hasn't been to war since 1809.
lol most vehicles in this techtree don't even exist! and are totally made-up
Will we ever see yugoslav vehicles....we dont even have a single skin of yugoslav vehicles in the game...
here are Chinese vehicles i have found to make the tree a bit more original. All of these vehicles are either frankenstein tanks, modified tanks, or unique tanks. They are: type 64, type 80, type 91/m10, wz 132, cm 11, cm 12, m41D, type 85, type 96, type 96B, ZBD-04A ZBL-09 and the wz 1226
