Today we’ll be going through some more new features and improvements coming to War Thunder in the Firebirds major update!
Improvements To Custom Sights
In the Firebirds major update, we’re expanding the functionality available in the “Sight settings” menu. It’s now possible to add the name of the shell you’re using to the sight and configure it in the same way as other elements can be within custom sights. You can move it to wherever you want, change the text and background color in different channels, change the size and font, and set the preferred name of the shell used — either its type or short name. In addition to this, the range scale can now be moved horizontally with the mouse cursor!
We’ve also improved the existing functionality of configurations. The sort list now puts player-created or downloaded configurations at the beginning, and a created or downloaded configuration that you no longer want can be deleted without leaving the game.
Analyze Your Hits From Your Battles
It’s now possible to see hits that you made or received during a battle as they actually happened, without needing to replay them manually in the Protection Analysis menu. You can view hits from a replay by clicking on the “Hit analysis” button when leaving a battle, or find the replay in the replay list (navigate “Community” > “Replays” from the hangar) and click the button from there.
Recorded hits are divided into two groups, where you can switch between both: either hits made by you, or hits from enemies. Each hit has time stamps, the name of the ammunition used and vehicle, and on the menu on the right, you can see the range and details of the projectile and vehicle. It’s also possible to save individual shots from the hit analysis menu to a file and play them from there, allowing you to both share them with your friends or attach them to bug reports. Please note that not all hits are saved. Some hits are filtered by gun caliber, so the list will not have a scattering of machine gun hits, as this can interfere with finding the exact hit that you wanted to see.

Comments will be premoderatedJust to note, analysing hits from battles doesn't work on console because replays do not work on consoles.
Just gonna take a moment to appreciate these small yet quality changes.
Now make it to where I can move around all of UI for Planes this way I don't have to be looking into the top left corner of the Screen to see my Speed and Alt or Fuel Thank you very much!!!
Given that when you aim from the gunners sight position, the gun is off-center with the axis of aim, will we be able to adjust the vertical sighting line, to better represent the position of the shell offset relative to the distance from the muzzle, and the difference in bore-axis? Hitting targets up close in ground sim, or just with this sight mode in Ground RB, is far harder than it should be at this time. I'd love to hear about this!
Why is it far harder than it should be? Gunner sight parallax is something every gunner needs to know about, although modern FCS compensate for it. That is represented in game on tanks with laser rangefinder, the sight turns horizontally to compensate for the parallax.
Rastmust, I have not yet seen the game compensate for the difference in position between the gunner's sight, and the bore of the gun. Have you actually *tried* shooting with the Gunner's Camera View enabled? Not just from the aiming sight, but with the actual tick-box enabled in the menu.
Insane Improvement 👍🏽 Good Job Team, this is the correct direction which the game is heading to.
I hope the sight lines for the different presets are thinner, as they are quite thick when zooming in the livegame.
This as well. Some sights completely block out the target while aiming because of how the zoom works.
DutchDragon24, It's because they are zooming the crosshair as well as the sight picture which isn't how optical sights work. The sight lines are fixed even in digital systems.
Can console save sight presets now?
Thank you devs
Any plans to tie thermal colours to specific tank sights? Id love to recreate historical thermal sights on a per tank basis
The improvement to custom sights is irrelevant unless you allow us to apply settings to all ranks/nations instead of applying it individually to every rank of every nation one by one which takes ages.
I am always happy for these QOL additions. Thank you !
