The LVT(A)-1 (short for Landing Vehicle, Tracked (Armored) Mark I) is a light amphibious tank based on a troop carrier specifically designed for US Marine missions. The turret from the M5A1 tank was installed on the chassis of an amphibious armoured personnel carrier along with two aft machine guns on simple ring mounts. The driving and troop compartments received an extra armoured roof. The vehicle went into production in California in 1943 and was deployed in 1944. A total of 510 vehicles of this series were produced.

In War Thunder the LVT(A)-1 Light Tank will be a reserve vehicle in the US armoured vehicle branch and will be available to all players in the normal vehicle tree. The LVT(A)-1 is the game’s second amphibious tank after the Soviet PT-76.

In combat the LVT(A)-1 performs as a classic rank one light tank. The tank’s weak armour is incapable of protecting it from cannon fire but, on the other hand, its M6 37mm Gun is capable of piercing almost any opponent that the LVT(A)-1 may encounter in a random battle. Its large crew of 6 provides the tank with excellent survivability, and the ability to swim opens up many opportunities for the most unusual action in locations featuring open water.

wich other versions can we expect in the future? the one with the Scott HMC (75mm howitzer)? the one with the M24 Chaffee turret and gun? I think there's also one with the M18 Hellcatt turret, it might be instead the M8A1 turret
I think your right about the Hellcat turret, the LVT(A) In Men of War 2 has that turret on it. maybe.

Pretty cool being able to get an amphib at rank 1; play with one right away.
We need to seriously find a way to up the age restriction though. I think kids are smart enough to know that once those soldiers go under, they ain't coming back up... alive at least. The game even TELLS you when you're about to drown in tanks that cant float like this one! It would feel so awesome to be running through waves of gunfire with a gunner dead and the other one shooting for his life... Not just sitting there doing nothing. Cmon Gaijin!
Uh, this one does float. I've even seen DevServer footage of it in action. The treads are what it uses to move through the water, kinda like it was doggy paddling.
For 1.59, I'm excited the most for this and ASU-57. The ASU-57 will basically be like an M22 without a turret
next one plz add BT-42 for the germans, the last surviving example are a german-captured one anyways
