The LVT(A)-1 (short for Landing Vehicle, Tracked (Armored) Mark I) is a light amphibious tank based on a troop carrier specifically designed for US Marine missions. The turret from the M5A1 tank was installed on the chassis of an amphibious armoured personnel carrier along with two aft machine guns on simple ring mounts. The driving and troop compartments received an extra armoured roof. The vehicle went into production in California in 1943 and was deployed in 1944. A total of 510 vehicles of this series were produced.
In War Thunder the LVT(A)-1 Light Tank will be a reserve vehicle in the US armoured vehicle branch and will be available to all players in the normal vehicle tree. The LVT(A)-1 is the game’s second amphibious tank after the Soviet PT-76.
In combat the LVT(A)-1 performs as a classic rank one light tank. The tank’s weak armour is incapable of protecting it from cannon fire but, on the other hand, its M6 37mm Gun is capable of piercing almost any opponent that the LVT(A)-1 may encounter in a random battle. Its large crew of 6 provides the tank with excellent survivability, and the ability to swim opens up many opportunities for the most unusual action in locations featuring open water.

Amphibious reserve? Thank you!
you should put a 45 mm in the back please
amphibious tanks and flying boats now we just need to combine them and we will get finally real ships
It is refreshing to have an unusual vehicle added. However it is a waste to have it as a reserve vehicle. This special vehicle should open the way for interesting innovation into the game. From the perspective of historical matchmaking/events how can it be usefull (in 1944 ?). This vehicle, as a support vehicle for infantry landings should have a special capture (CAP) ability. Either by being given a forward spawn point (a "beachhead") or by being able to cap many times faster than other vehicle
Then it would be interesting and challenging to play (along with an huge reward coefficient). In the same way, airborne tanks could be provided with forward "airdrop" spawn points that would allow them to be useful in the year they operate even if their BR is much lower than the opponents. Special vehicles should have special missions and abilities. That would be both realistic and fun, bringing more diversity to the game.
yes there is a tank in the U.S.A to swim in any water
I can already imagine... The flocks of LVTs milling about in the water.... This is so getting spammed xD
This will be really good for new players who want to play the U.S. tech tree first. They will go on and think, "whoa! a floating tank! I wanna play!"
Oorah! Just picturing this LVAT alongside a squad of US marines gets me pumped for the next patch. Nice addition to the tree I must say. Japanese tanks when?
