We present to you a new location for combined battles - “Sweden”! It will appear in the game with the release of the update 1.97 “Viking Fury”.
Especially for the release of the Swedish ground forces research tree our artists have created a new location for combined battles which we have named “Sweden”.
The source of the inspiration came from one of Stockholm’s districts - Gamla Stan (“old town”). In the new location you will see a small Scandinavian town with unique architecture and the Northern European aesthetics from the middle of the 20th century. Battles will take place in the vicinity of the city park: along the city embankment, in small blocks with traditional buildings, in green avenues and on tram rails, in the pedestrian area of the park with rotunda gazebo in the centre.
We tried to maintain a balance between short and medium distance fights as well as to provide each capture point with a large number of possible entrances. As for any city map for combined battles aircraft will have to work from low altitudes for the most accurate bombing and rocket strikes.
We will discover the picturesque streets of “Sweden” soon in War Thunder update 1.97. See you on the battlefield!

I would like to see a map similar to Yellowstone National Park ,Monument Valley, Area 51 :D
How are people complaining?! This map looks awesome. I can't wait to play on it.
I like the map, looks to be better then the last one, but i understand why u guys get so much flak for maps, the latest modern maps have been pretty bad
A lovely map and a beautiful one. However as due to my fears gained by the previous maps (Particular Alaska) the map looks large and grand here but a range of 1-2 km from spawn to spawn will be all that will be playable here and undoubtedly later (like with Hurtgen forest) will be shrunk even smaller. I understand Gaijin for Arcade and the likes of those modes I really do. But RB should be as large as SB's maps and even then SB's Alaska is far smaller than the potential for it.
at high tier AB maps should be as large as RB and SB maps. As an AB player these mini maps are just terrible in high tier. Alaska, American Desert are just maps is an instant return to the garage for me. No room to maneuver, everything happening at point blank ranges. No, thank you !
I just pray that the houses will actually have hitboxes. Last thing i want is spawnkilling as soon as the game starts, because the houses dont stop shells.
pls nerf ka 50 or add active and passive protection for tanks
pls stop whining about the Ka-50 being ''OP'' or leave the game
Are ya fixing son?
lmao
Cars on screenshots look older than 1967 - so their steering wheels should be on the right side! Sweden switched from driving on the left-hand side of the road to the right in 1967.
The guys who are whining cause its a “city map“ well thats the only way to pen some mbts cause if u hulldown on a “long range map“ well have fun to pen youre oponent than and close quarter maps are more skill and reaction based so i dont see whats the problem.
The problem might be that some players don't want to play twitch-shooters (if we wanted to we'd play CS or CoD or something) and/or want armour to matter more. They might also actually want fields of fire to be bigger than just a single street, giving more options to positioning and manoeuvring. And also not to forget: The hitboxes of terrain in cities (especially any kind of rubble or other complex structure) ranges from "awful" to "catastrophy", and are far less of an issue on more open maps.
Hmmm. Why cant we upvote comments that seem negative? Are they being locked to keep them from appearing at the top of comments?
