We present to you a new location for combined battles - “Sweden”! It will appear in the game with the release of the update 1.97 “Viking Fury”.
Especially for the release of the Swedish ground forces research tree our artists have created a new location for combined battles which we have named “Sweden”.
The source of the inspiration came from one of Stockholm’s districts - Gamla Stan (“old town”). In the new location you will see a small Scandinavian town with unique architecture and the Northern European aesthetics from the middle of the 20th century. Battles will take place in the vicinity of the city park: along the city embankment, in small blocks with traditional buildings, in green avenues and on tram rails, in the pedestrian area of the park with rotunda gazebo in the centre.
We tried to maintain a balance between short and medium distance fights as well as to provide each capture point with a large number of possible entrances. As for any city map for combined battles aircraft will have to work from low altitudes for the most accurate bombing and rocket strikes.
We will discover the picturesque streets of “Sweden” soon in War Thunder update 1.97. See you on the battlefield!

Ok so to all of those polite commentators that have had grievances with the fact that it is a city map, consider the fact that the majority maps that are unbalanced (Like Karelia, Kuban, Europe, and the hideously large Maginot Line) are all wide-open maps correct? At least that's according to the community for the past year and a half. Please try to decide what you want as the community because my head is about to spin off like a screw.
Another stupid city map.
another useless italy map
Oooo awesome, what a gorgeous map! And it's a city map too, lovely. :D On a related note, are Swedish planes going to get a proper test flight map this patch? They're stuck on the German test flight map right now. Sweden is also missing its unique hangar music. :(
Bad joke to call these mapdesigner "artists".Just rubbish maps since Maginot and that was more then 2 years ago.....it´s a shame!
And the Developer abuse continues... it makes me sad that a game loved by many, is at the same time hated by those who love it, specifically in most cases the team the actually made the game. Sure the team makes mistakes and they do act in a "unconventional" way but hey abusing the poor developers won't do much. There is a line between constructive criticism and just plain destructive remarks. Both sides can make this better for each other if one side listens to the other to make thinks better
Its Beautiful. Thank you for the new map as well.
Last good map made was Maginot Line...
There's a million and a half historic/semi-historic battles they could do, but instead they choose another city map? Can't wait for more CQB battles...
I like it! Thank you! Looking forward to play it!
