We are pleased to present heavy hitting boat that will appear in the War Thunder naval warfare closed beta test very soon: the German multi-purpose MZ1.
The MZ1 is an advanced German boat project created at the end of World War II. The leading boat of the series was laid down in 1943 and went into testing at the end of August 1944.
In total, the Germans were able to build one boat of the twelve planned in this series. Three more were ready for assembly. All the built boats ended up at the disposal of the British occupational forces. The leading boat was sent to England for testing, while the remaining boats were scrapped.

The leading MZ1 series boat has become a new ship in the Kriegsmarine tree in War Thunder. The letters MZ in its name are an abbreviation of the German Mehrzweckboot, meaning "multi-purpose boat", which entirely discloses its intended purpose.
The MZ-1 is a multi-target weapons platform with guns of several calibers, torpedoes and depth charges capable of solving any task of a small fleet. In battle, the MZ1 is an incessant and vociferous barrage of shells from an 88 mm, a 37 mm and several 20 mm cannons that generously rain fire down on the enemy. The two torpedo bays and six depth charges complete the image of this floating monster. There are no targets in the game that the MZ1 can’t take care of!

Yay, we finaly see a ship, nice ^^
Depth charges? So submarines planned too? Does that mean planes with depth charges also?
omfg all those guys who dont follow the news. Subs are not planned and the depth charges are against other boats. Planes didnt had depth charges.
Schwuppdich, Well, many planes did have depth charges of one type or another for attacking Submarines in dive bomb attacks, PBY Catalinas for one example, aircraft can see silhouettes of submarines from altitude, and so could easily attack subs... Submarines are not planned right now, but that could change in the distant future... Plus, all aircraft will at some point have all of their histrionical bomb loads
im sure they will add ships, they have been saying ships over the years and im sure they know a ship from a boat. plus they also say they will look into adding ships after beta and feedback, I see lots of people that want ships, also an EC ship mode would be good for long battles with BB,DD & CV'S and aircraft.
Not nearly big enough.
this looks like the master of the sea's so far can't wait to try it out
Yes ! The first i saw it I thought it was a destroyer ! I would like to see destroyers and cruisers in naval battles too. I'm ok with battleships being unplayable because including them would be way too absurd. Only a few battleships of one kind get built , sometimes even just a single one of them.
Kind of like a single MZ1?
gib Z1!!!!!!
Very Soon™
Bumbo claat that's what I'm talkin bout...
You've reached sizes available in "the other game" Now there's no excuse for not adding Destroyers!
