Gaijin Entertainment is pleased to announce that we are developing a new type of armoured vehicle to our military-historical online game War Thunder: The experimental model of the Soviet ST-1 tank.

Game mode ‘Ground Attack’ in RB

We’ve added new [Ground Attack] missions for different country pairs and ranks to the rotation of Realistic Air Battles and, in addition, we’ve increased the number of possible locations for [Operation] missions for all available nations. We’ve also further improved the creation of sessions based on the available countries and vehicles of the players waiting in queue. As a result, matches and their locations will become much more varied!

Changes in arcade ground forces mechanics

Bombers, for tankers, often appear as a sudden surprise, frequently there is not enough time to react. This particularly affects arcade battles where the mechanics of this mode are such that enemy aircraft will only appear when players select the air support event via the HUD.

Changes in ground forces mechanics

We have plans to improve further the feedback on damage made to a players vehicle, giving you even more feedback on where and how that last shot affected the situation. We are also changing the Artillery system again in arcade to satisfy more of our players and improving the dynamic of the air support functionality.

Operating Canopies

We know that some players are looking forward to the ability to be able to operate the canopy opening mechanism for aircraft cockpits in War Thunder. For these players, this is not just an interesting graphical feature, but also a real way to get the maximum view in situations where the ability to look out of the cockpit, remove parts of the canopy that are blocking the view or open the cockpit hatches can be a decisive final tool in the balance between success and failure in the game.

Graphic improvements

Our team is constantly and actively working on both graphical improvements and the optimization of the game. Even if players have older systems, unsupported by many modern games, they are still able to play War Thunder, although on minimal settings.

Cockpit Lights and D-5 gunpods

 Players may be familiar with the situation where during night battles it could be difficult to navigate using instruments alone because it was way too dark. This is why we are introducing the ability of enabling lighting for the entire cockpit for aircraft that had them in reality.
