We present to you a new location for combined battles - “Sweden”! It will appear in the game with the release of the update 1.97 “Viking Fury”.
Especially for the release of the Swedish ground forces research tree our artists have created a new location for combined battles which we have named “Sweden”.
The source of the inspiration came from one of Stockholm’s districts - Gamla Stan (“old town”). In the new location you will see a small Scandinavian town with unique architecture and the Northern European aesthetics from the middle of the 20th century. Battles will take place in the vicinity of the city park: along the city embankment, in small blocks with traditional buildings, in green avenues and on tram rails, in the pedestrian area of the park with rotunda gazebo in the centre.
We tried to maintain a balance between short and medium distance fights as well as to provide each capture point with a large number of possible entrances. As for any city map for combined battles aircraft will have to work from low altitudes for the most accurate bombing and rocket strikes.
We will discover the picturesque streets of “Sweden” soon in War Thunder update 1.97. See you on the battlefield!

It look beautiful, but Im extremely disappointed we get yet another city map :((((
Good map. For arcade and FPS shooter games. But if I play "realistic" tank battles, I expect realistic environment, not another labyrinth barrels swordplay trash. Remove crewlock at least..
Bad map for arcade past rank 4 ! Many of us Arcade players are tired of the mini maps that do not suit high tier vehicles. This is just another map i will skip in high tier. We have enough mini maps like American Desert, Alaska, etc. we did not another.
I agree with Laviduce. I'm also an Arcade player and absolutely despise urban maps like this. Another map which I will instantly hit Alt + F4 as soon as it shows up in the loading screen...
It looks great, but the game needs big open maps for ground forces, especially high rank play. Why is it so hard to listen to your player base regarding that? We can have city maps, but we should also have open and large maps, larger than Fulda and Maginot Line.
This map looks cool for low/medium tiers , but is there a big open map coming for top tier?
Looks like it belongs in that one forbidden tank game...
Just another crap to log out of. Or maybe to look at from several km above. Not really worthy to drive a tank into this.
Another city map "great".
Another close quarter, first person shooter map that has no business in high tier AB, RB or SB. Will high tier ground forces get any properly sized tank maps ?
Apparently not. They refuse to fix the clinically brain-dead maps like Poland (of which not one single variant is playable at high BRs), and just keep tossing "they're all just the same" city maps on us. I think the only city map that stands out a little is Berlin, and that's the *worst* city map in the game, so "Yay." Oh, and Middle East. But that map's so bad that whoever made it hopefully never crafts even a paper plane in the rest of his life.
thats what i remember from sweden, cities. Oh wait
Actually, to many people who only visit Sweden and don't live there, this IS what they remember from Sweden. If they went to Malmö, Göteborg or especially Stockholm, this is pretty much their view of Sweden. Sure, most Swedes won't have that image of Sweden, but then that view would also vastly differ depending on where in the country you are from. Most people from Southern Sweden wouldn't feel like a map of Northern Sweden was very "Swedish", to their minds and vice versa.
OddballE8, Pretty sure even the Southern Swedes from the cities would appreciate if there was a map focused on the vast woodlands and hills of the north. Imagine Dalarna, with forests and several lakes, and maybe makeshift bridges creating critical tactical points on the map. Historically it could be a scenario of Germany invading Sweden through Norway, as Swedish Navy was apparently too scary for Germans.
I cannot see a single IKEA store, so clearly this cannot be Sweden.
nice one )
The first IKEA store didn't open until 1958, and this is clearly set in the early 50's at most... so hence no IKEA.
