Attention, pilots and tank commanders! We are pleased to present a new location for mixed battles that we have prepared for War Thunder update 1.67: The Ardennes!
December 1944. The mountain town of Bastogne, which is being held by American troopers, has become a serious obstacle to the advance of Hitler’s troops into Belgium. This ancient town is where all of the main roads through the Ardennes mountains meet. The German army is not stopping – the cost of delaying the assault on Antwerp is too high. However, the besieged Americans are determined to wait for General Patton’s tanks to break through the line and provide reinforcements. “Us surrender? Aw, nuts!”
The Battle of the Bulge became one of the main events of Allied combat operations during World War II. We invite you to the outskirts of Bastogne, the first major stage of the Battle of the Bulge. Here, the fate of the Western Front as a whole will be decided on cobblestone streets and hilly terrain surrounding the town. We have tried to recreate the early winter color palette of the Ardennes and the ancient Belgian town on which the main events of the battle will take place. The hills will allow fire support vehicles and scouts to occupy tactical positions without being noticed, and the tanks assaulting the town will meet in Bastogne and vie for strategically important points. Pilots will have to carefully select directions for their bombing runs and assault strikes along the town’s narrow streets and keep track not only of enemy fighters, but also anti-air guns that could strike from the countless hiding spots in this mountainous location.
The Ardennes will be available for ground vehicle battles and all modes in War Thunder 1.67. See you in Bastogne!

beautiful map design love it
oh yeah he's looking good.
Looks very nice. For an Ardennes map I was hoping for more of an open or forest-y area and not such a close quarters map. But oh well, looks fantastic and I can't wait to see it regardless! Great work guys! Looks like it'll be another Eastern Europe or Poland sort of map. Can't really complain about that. Those are just classics.
Even if Bastogne had fallen, the Germans would have never reached antwerp due to fuel shortages and the air forces would have been able to start flying at some point and destroyed them. Just further from the ardennes and in country better for fighting and manouvering for the allied troops
so what?
Looking forward to this. The detail that is put into these maps are literally jaw dropping at times. I've been gaming since the 80's, and have seen and played many war games, War Thunder is by far the best I've ever played. The hit and armor penetration system and the shear beauty of the locations put this game far ahead of the pack. Keep it up Gaijin. Best game ever
Snow....????, I don't get it.....I even hate it....... Thx Gaijin for a new battle scene, can't wait playing this map.
pls guys i beg you , do not put all flags in town, for BR 5,7 -8,0 put some flags out side of town and make it 3x times biger. i donot wanna another arcade map
Crack of the lightning splitting the ground / Thunder is sounding, artillery pounding / Wrath of the Nazi's cast on Bastogne / Facing their forces alone…
Wow... so many people complaining "Snow? where's the snow? Leave, bah too many!" Are you guys serious? they're still making new tanks and aircraft, alongside boats now, plus more maps, it takes time to put these together, why don't you all stop being so greedy and take to appreciate what they did with this map, and what they are doing with other things, if you don't like you spend years practicing to design games and help. Thanks gaijin for the awesome stuff.
Courland pocket next please :D
