We continue to expand the number of locations represented in War Thunder with every update, and update 1.87 won’t be an exception to that. Today, we’re happy to present to our players a new location for ground battles, set in beautiful Alaska!
Briefly: A new location for ground battles, inspired by the mountain regions of Alaska.
In update 1.87, we’re happy to present a new location for ground battles, set in the stunning mountainous landscape of Alaska. Specifically, players will battle for control over a small Alaskan town and its imminent surroundings, fighting on wide city streets between skyscrapers in one engagement and dense evergreen forests in the other.
The main focus of battles taking place on this location will be centered around the strategic zones situated within the city itself. Depending on the battle type, players may find themselves contesting ground on either the town’s more open outskirts, where lighter vehicles and tank destroyers can especially benefit from better visibility and longer engagement distances, or the city center itself, where the more frantic close-quarters engagements will take place, more suitable for heavy brawlers.
The new Alaska map will become available in ground battles with the release of the upcoming update 1.87. We hope you enjoy it! Until then, stay tuned for more news on the next update coming to War Thunder. We’ll see you in battle!

For when the zombies and super mutants?
Good urban map, gaijin always did the great job, urban battle is helpful to stop some like to telling someone "I'm the pro one, because I can shot down a tank in 1,500m far." the sniping is not helping player get happy or competition their battle skill or teamwork... only something like the pro player can get happy, now i finally can play short range battle, fight like a real man, not a sniping pussys
Dude. Modern tanks are supposed to engage as far out as possible. This isn't knights on horseback. Tanks suck in cities, and you want to kill the enemy as far away as possible. Preferably without being seen.
Map looks amazing, hope it won't be like Vietnam when my FPS just dies
Does anybody else find this map creepy in a post-apocalyptic way?
Yeah, they actually look like screenshots from 7 Days to Die
Wow, looks gorgeous Gaijin! I totally approve of this, but I hope there is a bit more of the open space than what was shown.
Great! Another useless map , non historical like the America map....why? who need this? most of the players want to see maps where was actually battles and if the dev want a city map they can chose a lot of.....Paris , Leningrad ,Budapest , Vienna , Warsaw etc those cities are more beautiful and have a greater history and can fit in the game . i know its a better chose for the marketing because america can be sold easily for everybody.... please....no
You are right in every point
Or maybe a map in rural Kansas or Nebraska, were tanks would actually fight?
tanks and urban areas don't mix unless you have infantry
Honestly i think we just need a rework of air rb, its getting endlessly boring to play planes now and all i want is EC in rb so i can actually enjoy my planes i have bought and researched instead of feeling like i wasted hundreds on boring gameplay
So, you announce Tier 7 tanks... and you add ANOTHER urban, close quarters map??? Are you guys just trolling?
Next AB map, which probably will be mass leaved after start in RB and SB
