We continue to expand the number of locations represented in War Thunder with every update, and update 1.87 won’t be an exception to that. Today, we’re happy to present to our players a new location for ground battles, set in beautiful Alaska!
Briefly: A new location for ground battles, inspired by the mountain regions of Alaska.
In update 1.87, we’re happy to present a new location for ground battles, set in the stunning mountainous landscape of Alaska. Specifically, players will battle for control over a small Alaskan town and its imminent surroundings, fighting on wide city streets between skyscrapers in one engagement and dense evergreen forests in the other.
The main focus of battles taking place on this location will be centered around the strategic zones situated within the city itself. Depending on the battle type, players may find themselves contesting ground on either the town’s more open outskirts, where lighter vehicles and tank destroyers can especially benefit from better visibility and longer engagement distances, or the city center itself, where the more frantic close-quarters engagements will take place, more suitable for heavy brawlers.
The new Alaska map will become available in ground battles with the release of the upcoming update 1.87. We hope you enjoy it! Until then, stay tuned for more news on the next update coming to War Thunder. We’ll see you in battle!

you might look in history the majority of tank battles were not fought in cities but open areas african desert arden hedgroves of normandy the rhine area yes cities are intresting and fun but more open areas are were tanks operate
Not true, there was a lot of battles in cities. Vietnam is one of them, they had most of their fighting in urban grounds just as much in jungles.
OmegaSirius, That was back when tanks were slow. Even then they tried to avoid urban warfare with them when they could. Most modern battles have happened in open terrain where you can take advntage of the reason tanks were designed, Mobility.
If high teir players want bigger maps give them second battle of El alamein ,Tunisia, sinai all as one map for trial purposes see how they play .Then if players like them combine more maps like finland , frozen pass and volokolamsk ,stalingrad for winter warfare ,Poland ,eastern Europe, advance to the rhine etc .see how they play while new maps are in progress
How can we open discussion having only 6 photos? Be serious Lets wait for the map
Is this Anchorage?
Not much else as far as cities there....
I can't help but feel this isn't what is needed with the addition of new vehicles. We need large maps where the mobility and firepower of these vehicles can be put to use without immediately spawn camping the enemy. Big maps with limited obstructions of visibility ( the problem with Fulda ) like 'big mozdock" for sim. If this map is included in the simulator battles rotation, it won't be the last straw for me as i've already stopped playing sim, but it will make me more sure I was right to do so
The maps are either 8 or 80, please arrange a middle ground. nor km of anything with nothing to fall asleep and nor that you can not see anything at 10 meters
Oh man another city map for realistic battles, The Abrams players are going to be so happy... It's so hard to make realistic map where real tank battles happened? and i mean real big scale tank battles because thats what war thunder ground forces is all about ''big scale tank battles''
I'm (personally) more of a "Urban Combat" maps and I am happy to see a new one coming. Look good and hope you guys make a Dev Server long enough so we can really take the time to TEST and give you guys feed back. Also, what "Tier/BR" we can see in this map? 3.7 & + 6.7 & + 9.0
The end look confusing so I'll re-write it. 3.7 and higher 6.7 and higher 9.0
This honestly looks fantastic. If this map feels and plays like Hurtgen Forest then I am extatic to play it. Hoping for the best, and not another Italy mess of a map, or exploitative map like Vietnam.
Please give it a half-decent spawn protection. Like American Desert where you see ennemies near your spawns and actually spawn behind cover and not in the middle of a field where anyone less than 3km away can snipe you.
