We continue to expand the number of locations represented in War Thunder with every update, and update 1.87 won’t be an exception to that. Today, we’re happy to present to our players a new location for ground battles, set in beautiful Alaska!
Briefly: A new location for ground battles, inspired by the mountain regions of Alaska.
In update 1.87, we’re happy to present a new location for ground battles, set in the stunning mountainous landscape of Alaska. Specifically, players will battle for control over a small Alaskan town and its imminent surroundings, fighting on wide city streets between skyscrapers in one engagement and dense evergreen forests in the other.
The main focus of battles taking place on this location will be centered around the strategic zones situated within the city itself. Depending on the battle type, players may find themselves contesting ground on either the town’s more open outskirts, where lighter vehicles and tank destroyers can especially benefit from better visibility and longer engagement distances, or the city center itself, where the more frantic close-quarters engagements will take place, more suitable for heavy brawlers.
The new Alaska map will become available in ground battles with the release of the upcoming update 1.87. We hope you enjoy it! Until then, stay tuned for more news on the next update coming to War Thunder. We’ll see you in battle!

RE TANKS!!!! Am really hoping the lovely people at gaijin are planning to possibly add some Yugoslav tanks or even varients of soviet ones. Like the M-84 for example, a T-72 but modified to fit Kontakt 5 and also looks like a bit like a T-90... Plus am Serbian with a small amount of Croation and would faint seeing one in WT. Gaijin, make this Slavic brother happy <3 (P.S.) If Shaun is reading this, good night papa for I__Cato_Sicarius am going to sleep <3.
I just dont understand why dont you guys focus on important things.... We have enough maps and vehicles. Focus on UI, bugs on maps, bugs while hitting, destroying tanks. I mean games looks almost the same for years. We need new moves, theese one are not so fun, new clan battles. Make global map, etc etc....
Are you kidding me? The maps in this game are not very diverse, and we need a lot more new ones to keep everything fresh.
My Fps drops very badly in Vietnam, I hope this map is friendly to my old PC.
I'm really liking this map, but do you think in the future we could see some cities from places other than United States? Maybe Paris or a rural Russian or Ukrainian city?
Are you serious? We only have like 1 American map, we need more, a lot more. I think Paris would be good idea too, but we have enough European maps as it is.
Where did the 360 degree in-game viewings go?
"Liberty Prime is online. All systems nominal. Weapons hot. Mission: the destruction of any and all Russian communists! Voice module online. Audio functionality test initialized. Designation: Liberty Prime. Mission: the liberation of Anchorage, Alaska. Communist threat assessment: Minimal. Obstruction detected, composition: Russian Bias. Probability of mission hindrance: zero percent! Communism is the very definition of failure! I am Liberty Prime. I am... America."
When are we getting titles for those who joined the game during 2017 and 2018? i think it would be nice if you kept tradition with titles going..
I think some people want the Gmod flatgrass map, you know: the map with nothing but big flat square of grass and somethink in the middle! Yeah but you know: most of the tank battle happen in these kind of area so its is realistic ! <= put some fuel on yourself and realistically die like tanker does irl please. And no i dont want map that encourage spawn camp like italy, advance to the rhine, etc. I hope i will like this one, i hope...
Very nice design but think of more realistic like the war in Afganistan, Iraq and the war in Ukraine in Doneskt it would be much more fun for everyone
We do have an Afghanistan map, it's for Air battles.
Mountains, like cities, suck for tank battles. You want open flat country or gently sloping hills.
Imagine Flying through the buildings in a plane or helo in RB
