We continue to expand the number of locations represented in War Thunder with every update, and update 1.87 won’t be an exception to that. Today, we’re happy to present to our players a new location for ground battles, set in beautiful Alaska!
Briefly: A new location for ground battles, inspired by the mountain regions of Alaska.
In update 1.87, we’re happy to present a new location for ground battles, set in the stunning mountainous landscape of Alaska. Specifically, players will battle for control over a small Alaskan town and its imminent surroundings, fighting on wide city streets between skyscrapers in one engagement and dense evergreen forests in the other.
The main focus of battles taking place on this location will be centered around the strategic zones situated within the city itself. Depending on the battle type, players may find themselves contesting ground on either the town’s more open outskirts, where lighter vehicles and tank destroyers can especially benefit from better visibility and longer engagement distances, or the city center itself, where the more frantic close-quarters engagements will take place, more suitable for heavy brawlers.
The new Alaska map will become available in ground battles with the release of the upcoming update 1.87. We hope you enjoy it! Until then, stay tuned for more news on the next update coming to War Thunder. We’ll see you in battle!

I really do not mind urban maps (i even prefer them). But please make sure the map isn't broken like vietnam, where people can sit and snipe into A from the mountain.
i really do hope it's not another close quarters combat map and there are some open fields around the city. im tired of dying each time i spawn because it takes a minute to drive from spawn to spawn. small maps = spawncamping. if you care about spawncampers you should really pay attention to how a map is deisgned, otherwise you're creating some sick social experiment where people blame each other for ruining the game but fail to realise its the problem with the map itself.

I'm from Alaska and couldn't be more happy for this map, but I do have a very important question. Did you add Mt. Susitna and/or Mt. Denali in the map?
im not sure how i feel about this map, i was hoping war thunder would stick to more historically accurate maps, i hope we dont see a London map becuase that would just kill the game off for me
The only thing i want out of this map is proper hitboxes and balanced spawn points that dont make it easier to camp on (flat sides is the worst thing you can have next to a spawn honestly and dont even think about trees and rocks) i always end up dealing with invisible one way rocks that affect me but not the one shooting me as well as it makes the enemy know where i am easier, so i have to expose my tank and then ran for cover without being able to track the bullet for a precise 2nd shot
A lot of the maps currently have a one way based battle either people go to one capture point and the other 2 are capped(occurs a lot) leaving my team or whoever is playing spawned camped from a Km away as the spawn camping barrier system is currently needs a whole over haul not only this while yes the maps are really pretty there are maps people have begged to see changed altered or straight out altered getting rid of the other points would make sense in some eyes but i'll wait to see what goes
or get rid of objectives all together and let us find eachother and duke it out. Then light tanks would actually have a purpose.
I think a rename might be in order. This is far from an Alaskan-looking place.... Maybe just call it Washington or Pacific Northwest or something
Alaska has skyscrapers??
Just finished Metro Exodus and this looks A LOT like the scenery from there...so I LOVE IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
