The fast and deadly ‘Jaguar’ torpedo boat is one of the best representatives of its class in War Thunder.
The German Typ-Klasse 140 Jaguar torpedo boat was developed between 1957 and 1963 for action in the Baltic Sea. The Jaguar was a direct descendent of the WWII-era German Schnellboots. The shipbuilders factored all of their experience using torpedo boats into it and attempted to adapt the vessel for modern combat situations.
Since the Jaguar was intended for open-water situations, it was especially made to be large and powerful, with an impressive fuel range. The Jaguar had a tonnage of 210 tons. Running economically, it was capable of travelling 1,000 miles, which is quite a magnificent distance for this type of naval vehicle. It had four 3,000-horsepower engines, which were capable of achieving a speed of up to 43.5 knots – a very high speed for a torpedo boat with such a large tonnage. In fact, despite having twice the tonnage of wartime Schnellboots, the Jaguar was capable of achieving a very similar speed! Its armament is succinct and efficient. The engineers rejected low-caliber anti-air artillery and backup torpedoes in favour of four torpedo launchers and two automatic Bofors 40 mm guns.

In War Thunder, the Jaguar is at rank IV in the German Navy tech tree. It is noticeably faster than many of its “classmates,” but is still considered equal in terms of firepower. Its four torpedo launchers allow it to launch a whole barrage of fast, deadly torpedoes at the enemy at once, or sink four enemy ships with torpedoes alone with individual aimed shots. Even if they are able to dodge the torpedoes, they won’t get away from the 40 mm rounds fired by the Bofors, which can tear apart the hulls of enemy ships and the plating of aircraft equally with ease. The Jaguar however, has almost no armour. Only the cabin and the gunners’ posts on the cannon installations have bulletproof plating, so you’ll need to take full advantage of the ship’s superiority in terms of speed and range of fire to avoid incoming rounds.
The Typ-Klasse 140 Jaguar will become available to our players for the first time during one of the next closed pre-beta tests of the War Thunder Naval Battles. Sign up to join the ranks of the testers and be the first to take this new ship for a spin!

This is just funny to read. If you happy about this then, I feel sorry for you. These are rowboats, and before you say "realistic" War Thunder stop being that way. I was happy when ships was announced, but then I seen this? I love their ground and air vehicles, but this is just low. This isn't navy warfare. Before you say go play WoW and why would someone want to do 10 hours game the games are shorter then RB on here. So that argument is invalid, I just hope people will open their eyes.
Will we also see some of the Volksmarine torpedo boats? They had a large number of unique designs such as the Libelle-Klass mtb and the Parchim-class corvette. It would be a shame if the tech tree would be West Germany only.
They've to give us DDR Soviet-Modifications and own developments anyway at some point. Because it gets really shallow when it comes to post war vehicles.
Another little boat...
How about player controlled aircraft carriers?
Is it so hard to understand? At the beginning, no big ships!
stefffff1871, But later on when larger ships do come out?
Can you guys please just show us a Destroyer already? Pretty please?
Aw I was hoping after several days of Tank reveals that we'd be seeing a nice new WW2 aircraft today :(
Day is long ;)
One question: Will this ship be in the russian tech tree or german tech tree, like the Mig15bis?
Tier IV German tree: "In War Thunder, the Jaguar is at rank IV in the Kriegsmarine tech tree."
I don't think it's been cleared up yet, but id there going to be a closed beta test like, on a dev server or something, or is this "pre-beta" it? No offense but I was under the impression there'd be a CBT after the PB, but if there isn't then that would mean public access would come after PB right? (PB--Pre-Beta). Anyway, nice job! The only reason I ask is that I've missed a lot of the pre beta test and want to get some fun out of the pack i bought.
No tests on dev servers. All pre-test and further cbt will be held on live server (right now pre test are held in special events for Players who purchased navy packs).
Stona_WT, So it will be kinda like Japanese tanks or something after these weekend test end? Where the pre testers have full access while the rest of the community periodically get sections of the tech tree unlocked? Sorry if I am being dumb here :p
Cool! This looks like a great tier four torpedo boat. Please add destroyers! As long as you do that, you will have my support. Those five inches they used would be delicious!
Could a muilti stage event appear were tanks are trying to defend the city from beach assault and boats and aircraft go in to land.then when the boats make it to the beach the ground forces have to try to cap the city with enemy spawns all around them.
