Good news for all collectors and anyone who just loves unusual vehicles – very soon, the range of ‘rare’,
but series-produced vehicles in War Thunder will receive a new addition: the M4A5 medium tank!
The Canadian RAM Mk.II cruiser tank was received into the US Army with the designation M4A5. The vehicle, with its outstanding external appearance, was developed and based on the American M3 Lee. The M4A5, which is coming to the game, was in series production from 1942 to 1943, and 1899 units were produced within that time. Although this tank never came face to face with the enemy on the battlefield, it was actively used both by the Canadians and the British for training tank crews, it also served as a basis for developing later SPGs and other vehicles of various designs.
What makes this vehicle stand out from the crowd apart from its unusual origins? First of all, its looks. The smooth contours of its hull and the special gun mantlet make the tank stand out from other Allied vehicles. The tank’s armament includes an excellent QF Mk III 6 pdr (57 mm) cannon. Players that have already researched British tanks with this cannon are likely to thank its accuracy, rapid-firing and powerful effect, this represents a serious threat to any ground vehicles at ranks I and II. The tank also stands out for its survivability in no small part thanks to its excellent defenses for its level (its frontal armour reaches 3” in thickness) plus its effective crew of five.

In battle, the vehicle is excellently suited to complete various tasks and is a far more versatile tank than any other contemporary tanks. Want to take advantage of the armour and ‘outmuscle’ enemy defenses? Easy. Quickly change your position to take a strategic point? No problem. Dive into the thick of it and fire off a couple of dozen shells through the attackers’ frontal armour plates? Be my guest! On top of all this, the tank has a nice bonus to Research Points and Silver Lions earned.
This armoured vehicle will arrive in our game with update 1.61 “Road to Glory” and will be at rank II as a premium vehicle in the US research tree!
See you on the battlefield!

Btw, how many milimetres are 3 inches?
84mm
76.2mm
This is actually a premium I may need to get. Still wish it wasn't premium though...
Gaijin, I think it's great that you have added this vehicle! And I have no issue with it being a premium since it wasn't built by the US. However, I would also love to see a commonwealth tree either as part of the British tree or as a separate entity. This tree would feature countries like Australia, Canada, New Zealand, India, etc. May I also sugget that you present more non-premium vehicle in the Devblogs since some people get so touchy with those vehicles.
so you took a British commonwealth tank and put into the american tree? that doesn't really work logic wise, at least is it possible for a UK tree version to be added later?
A UK version that is hopefully not premium
" (its frontal armour reaches 3” in thickness) " could you please (atleast in brackets) use the metric system, just like nearly every country on earth? :)
84mm
Vrox11Z, I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but that's completely wrong. 1 inch is 25.4mm. Multiplied by three doesn't come out to 84mm
Finally a premium with some sense, except it needed to be in the British tree
M5A1 was the american designation of the RAM Mk2 so british tech tree will probably get the RAM Mk2 later and hopefully as a non-premium

Are we going to see the T14 canadian tank anytime soon?
lol yep because the Ram is Ameridum and the T14 heavy is canadian now because of Gaijin. lel
I wont argue with the internet cause that can never be settled but in the end people need to realize that this is still a company who needs money to keep making this game great. ya there are things that they add that need fixing but hay that why this game is constantly changing. I cant imagine how much hate comments you get gijin but as a student in game art I know its a long road to make a game. so again good luck Gijin and keep making awesome vehicles for us to play. :>
look at how many premium there is in game , look at the cost of most of those premium. On top of that some premium makes NO sense whatsoever while some prototypes or one time vehicles made it to the regular trees. Then there's also the fact that some premium are indeed p2w (*cough* t29 *cough*) and that some problems seems so obvious to the playerbase or are known by the developers for so long we simply don't understand why they're not fixed yet. all of that results in this "hatred".
Taiidan_Triikor, Right and its so easy to change something then have everyone complain about the change even though you wanted it. you have no idea how a small change can cause a huge problem that everyone will hate. easy for everyone to say but none really know the big picture and still again premium tanks and planes make money so the workers get paid so it will happen regardless of what is said and you will just have to suck it up or get a job as the lead on the development team cause you know so much.
i'm not gonna say I wouldn't want that as a premium , but US tree ? Really ? come on , put that thing in the UK tree
G'day Gaijin gotta question when are we gonna see the Sherman Tupils in the British tree? would be a great 3.3 br premium edition . or the Sherman Shink SPAA & don't say it was a prototype look at the rocket Cornwall?
