Good news for all collectors and anyone who just loves unusual vehicles – very soon, the range of ‘rare’,
but series-produced vehicles in War Thunder will receive a new addition: the M4A5 medium tank!
The Canadian RAM Mk.II cruiser tank was received into the US Army with the designation M4A5. The vehicle, with its outstanding external appearance, was developed and based on the American M3 Lee. The M4A5, which is coming to the game, was in series production from 1942 to 1943, and 1899 units were produced within that time. Although this tank never came face to face with the enemy on the battlefield, it was actively used both by the Canadians and the British for training tank crews, it also served as a basis for developing later SPGs and other vehicles of various designs.
What makes this vehicle stand out from the crowd apart from its unusual origins? First of all, its looks. The smooth contours of its hull and the special gun mantlet make the tank stand out from other Allied vehicles. The tank’s armament includes an excellent QF Mk III 6 pdr (57 mm) cannon. Players that have already researched British tanks with this cannon are likely to thank its accuracy, rapid-firing and powerful effect, this represents a serious threat to any ground vehicles at ranks I and II. The tank also stands out for its survivability in no small part thanks to its excellent defenses for its level (its frontal armour reaches 3” in thickness) plus its effective crew of five.

In battle, the vehicle is excellently suited to complete various tasks and is a far more versatile tank than any other contemporary tanks. Want to take advantage of the armour and ‘outmuscle’ enemy defenses? Easy. Quickly change your position to take a strategic point? No problem. Dive into the thick of it and fire off a couple of dozen shells through the attackers’ frontal armour plates? Be my guest! On top of all this, the tank has a nice bonus to Research Points and Silver Lions earned.
This armoured vehicle will arrive in our game with update 1.61 “Road to Glory” and will be at rank II as a premium vehicle in the US research tree!
See you on the battlefield!

Are there some reinforcements for the british tank tree too? Like a vehicle between Churchill 7 and Caenarvon?
i do agree. we need more british tanks. but not premiums. that would spark fury and make more players leave
Hopefully not while I'm researching the Caenarvon.
A new tank that isn't rank 5? it must be premium! *reads page* yep... thought so...
any plane/tank thats made more than a 100 is a regular plane/tank. this shouldnt be premium at all. despite being one of the first canadian tanks in the world of war thunder? sorry, but premium is unacceptable. might aswell make the T-62 a premium and the M60A1 so we get rank V premiums
"any plane/tank thats made more than a 100 is a regular plane/tank" It's some kind of rule you read somewhere? It's "special" , not another standard version of Sherman tank.
Stona_WT, It's not even a Sherman tank and shouldn't even be in the US Tree but the UK tree. And I agree, it shouldn't be a premium either.
... Gaijin! This should be in the British tree! Why you do this! The US even had war plans to invade Canada if they needed to! (War Plan Red) My Canadian tank needs to be in the British tree! Why is the Australian tank in the British tree and not the US tree then? Eh? It is the exact same M3 Chassis as the Ram and is British Common Wealth too.
The American tank that was never used by the Americans, this is pure US tech tree material, maybe they could add it to the Russian tree as well.
gaijin do the smart thing and make this standard for British and premium for usa. dont make the British wait for some good tanks as they are lacking tank currently.
based off an american tank, okay sure, but used by the commonwealth and Britain, and also Britain'slack of premium tanks, doesn't it just make more sense for it to be in the British tree?
To be completely fair - I can see this vehicle in the premium tree. But let's all be fair here and agree on the fact that the Brummbär is a premium is absolutely silly.
Looks cute :3 New patch looks very good so far. I hope that you will fix DM also. Because right now they are broken :P
This was a Canadian tank. Designed by Canadians, built by Canadians and used by Canadians. By the time this tank was introduced, the only wartime ally currently in the game that Canada had was their ally in the Commonwealth, the UK. This tank was not an American tank, it was given a DESIGNATION by Americans. WHY IS THIS GOING IN THE US TREE? Commonwealth vehicles should be in the UK tree, especially when this tank was brought in when the US wasn't even in the war yet!
Yep, this decision to make it a US tank makes literally no sense, they even state it themselves that the tank and its variants were used by the British army.
