American tank design at the end of the war stood out for its numerous intriguing projects, many of which were given material form but never reached the front. One of these will be coming to War Thunder soon™ in the American tech tree as a premium vehicle – the T29 heavy tank.
The T29 was an experimental vehicle that was designed as a weapon against German heavy tanks at the end of the war. Alas, the prototype took until 1947 to build, at that point the US army no longer had need for such an expensive and heavy tank. But that didn’t mean that all their efforts were wasted: elements of the T29 design were used in the development of almost all later US tanks during the Cold War.
This tank stands out for its size.
Its mass of 64 tons is huge even for a tank of this class. But all this weight didn’t come about by accident: its spacious turret was equipped with a 105mm T5E2 cannon: incredibly powerful and frightening in its appearance alone. Additionally, the tank had impressive armour – almost 300 mm at the front of the turret! The front of the hull was also protected by thick armour plates set at a steep angle, though they were somewhat weaker than those installed at the front end of the German Tiger II. The American tank does looks truly frightening.
But in battle it is, of course, better to rely on its powerful 105mm gun rather than its threatening appearance. This cannon is more than sufficient to send any opponent at the same BR back to the hangar with just one successful hit - the T95 and T28 SPGs have similar guns. The other features of the tank in total allow classic heavy tank strategies to be used: don’t be afraid to expose yourself to the enemy as long as you don’t let them hit the weak spots of your armour, cover medium tanks in attack and use your power to press for an advantage. Just make sure to hide the lower frontal armour plate and turret sides from the enemy.

This is more like the experimental disaster
will WT ever bring in the Kv-4?...I mean its not like they shouldn't....that have the Maus and a few other tanks that where "Blueprint" tanks.....why no KV-4
How exactly is the Maus a blueprint tank? You do realise its standing in a museum right?
Well, there were altogether ~20 KV-4 designs that were found. I sure wonder how would you choose between any single one of them for implementation.
will you add the b-59 jet bombe?
This tank sounds good at first, but will it face 8.0 tanks with post-war shells or dominate 7.0 or below tanks? It sounds like it will suffer BR compression.
Well, my T26E1-1 SP apparently meets Mauses in RB so... I really hope that those upcoming changes in BR will fix it. Like playing SP wasn't hard enough.
Why should it face 8.0 when it's a 6.7? Besides which, if you make this thing fight HEAT-FS tanks, it's going to be redundant from the get-go, like most WWII designs forced to fight post-war BS.
ok guys, dont get hyped: They will ruin the realistic mode game: https://forum.warthunder.com/index.php?/topic/314355-developer-rb-mode-and-illegal-modifications/ GAIJIN: did you guys drunk to much Vodka
Gaijin if you guys do this.... i will go back to WOT
this thing should be in the normal tree the super pershing is trash and the T32 has too high a br
Gonna give us the E50 and E-75 soon aswell then? late German tier V tech tree is looking pretty slim compared to other nations
No they wont. Read the DecBlog of the E100 and Check the Q&A there
Damn shame, i really wanted the E50. Have they said anything at all about filling out late tier V with more leopard's or anything at all for that matter?
Why forced update tanks manufactured after WW2 ???.. Mix in battle vehicles made during WW2 and manufactured after WW2 terrible ruin the game (because these WT team has not separateda in special group ) I want to play something like that ,I'd played this garbage WoT People (no kids in the arcade) interested WW2 battles, ballistics, physics, atmospheric effects and details damage
Could we get the second variant of the T29 in the regular tree i mean there was a variant with range finders on it which could be a great addition and will we be expecting a T32 with the 105mm cannon? But amazing looking tank so happy to see a great tank coming here to warthunder! P.S are we expecting the T30 and T34 heavys sometime in the future?
Did Gaijin finally get info from Aberdeen about the APHE shell or is this premium going to be using the same gimped solid shot as the T95 and T28? If so I'll pass I have all the American tanks anyways so anything with HE filler will be a better option for me than forking over money for something with a 13.3 second reload rate and gimped spalling like all American solid shot.
