Our 2024 Roadmap included several interface improvements, and one of them was new reticles for modern tanks with improved elements of the tank’s gun sight systems. Today, we’re pleased to present it to you, not just in an updated form, but in a deeply customized form as well. This new feature will come to the game in the Dance of Dragons major update — let’s take a look!
A new option called “Sight settings” has been added to the Ground vehicle Battle Settings. When clicking on this button, you can create your own configuration of interface elements displayed in the gunner’s sight. Configurations that you create can be saved to individual vehicles or to every vehicle at a selected rank of a specific nation at once so that you don’t have to create a sight for each vehicle one by one. Plus, you can also use any sight on any vehicle in the game (yes, that means you can use the modern US sight on a T-34 if you want!).
The following elements can be customized:
- Grid sight. You can either select it from the grids already available in the game, or install a custom sight ownloaded to the /UserSights/ folder located in the game directory
- Rangefinder indicator
- Turret rotation indicator
- Sight field of view indicator at maximum zoom
- Shot readiness indicator (shows readiness status and reload time)
Interface elements that do not affect aiming can be easily and conveniently dragged around the screen with your mouse cursor. Each element can be viewed in different modes: day, night, with a night vision device or with a thermal imager.

This is just the first version of the customizable aiming sights that will be coming to the game in the Dance of Dragons major update. New elements and additional settings may be added in the future. In the meantime, tell us what you think about this new feature on the official forum or on our social networks!

So will more realistic sights for WWII vehicles come as well i would love to see the WWII sights as well. Very cool:)
Wonderful! I have been wanting to make some adjustments to some specific tank's sights for a while now =D
I'm so glad y'all are adding this! Just a cool idea for it.... I think it would be sick to have to option to turn on the optical bending of the scope lenses that you guys recently put in enlisted. Also, it would be awesome to have effects for modern tanks, giving them a screen effect for the commander and gunner sights to give that look like you are viewing the screens inside the tank! plz add :}
Will user sights still be supported?
CaptSusumuKodai, Yes
(yes, that means you can use the modern US sight on a T-34 if you want!) This all sounds like a complete disaster idea.. facepalm
Zepuoj, You CAN =/= you must.
Wow, this is awesome! Gonna go great with those modern reticles
I know it says we can configure it on a per vehicle or per rank basis, but will there be a setting to allow it to automatically set to the most applicable one without having to set them yourself?
When will you fix the mechanic for changing rounds in ground vehicles? Having to fire a round to change to another round - i.e. going from an AP type round to an HE type round, is absurd and very unrealistic.
BubonicRat, Removing live shell from tank barrel is absurd and very unrealistic.
Please make the rangefinder show the current range permanently. And add numerical gun azimut and especially elevation indicator for AA vehicles.
