Our 2024 Roadmap included several interface improvements, and one of them was new reticles for modern tanks with improved elements of the tank’s gun sight systems. Today, we’re pleased to present it to you, not just in an updated form, but in a deeply customized form as well. This new feature will come to the game in the Dance of Dragons major update — let’s take a look!
A new option called “Sight settings” has been added to the Ground vehicle Battle Settings. When clicking on this button, you can create your own configuration of interface elements displayed in the gunner’s sight. Configurations that you create can be saved to individual vehicles or to every vehicle at a selected rank of a specific nation at once so that you don’t have to create a sight for each vehicle one by one. Plus, you can also use any sight on any vehicle in the game (yes, that means you can use the modern US sight on a T-34 if you want!).
The following elements can be customized:
- Grid sight. You can either select it from the grids already available in the game, or install a custom sight ownloaded to the /UserSights/ folder located in the game directory
- Rangefinder indicator
- Turret rotation indicator
- Sight field of view indicator at maximum zoom
- Shot readiness indicator (shows readiness status and reload time)
Interface elements that do not affect aiming can be easily and conveniently dragged around the screen with your mouse cursor. Each element can be viewed in different modes: day, night, with a night vision device or with a thermal imager.

This is just the first version of the customizable aiming sights that will be coming to the game in the Dance of Dragons major update. New elements and additional settings may be added in the future. In the meantime, tell us what you think about this new feature on the official forum or on our social networks!

Comments will be premoderatedI think this is great, really want to have authentic weapon sights for my abrams and the crow system for any vehicle that has one. My question is, specifically since I really only play on console, will this come to console and will we be able to choose sights generally found in the workshop or are consoles gonna be left out from authentic-to-vehicle crosshairs?
Okay... this is pretty cool. Well done gaijin!
That's a good, but do I have to set this for each tank individually?
There should also be a tutorial on how to use different sights. For instance the SPAA sight.
I dont get it, what is new now on this? The UI? Custom Sighs are already in the game for basically ever, already using them since years.
Very nice customization, but it would be better if it was in the same vehicle customization instead of inside setting for easy access. Since it looks like it has to be manually setup for each vehicle.
I really thought this will be huge overhaul of optics. You know something that would make you feel like this scope is scope. What I mean by that to have all the optical effects, sharpness and blurness, tint, edges to produce optical distortion. I like how new CoD MW series were able to reproduce such feeling and effect. You guys must do it too. :) other than that I like what I see but it still feels unfinished.
