Ancient Japanese chronicles date the accession of the first Emperor Jimmu to the first day of the first month of 660 BCE. During the transition to the Gregorian calendar in the Meiji era, this date was aligned with February 11th and made into a holiday. Japan widely celebrated the 2,600th anniversary of the founding of the empire in 1940. After World War II, the celebrations were discontinued, but in the mid-1960s they were resumed with refined wording, eliminating any mention of the empire. It is a patriotic holiday, marked by the flying of flags and numerous local festivals.

The BO 105 CB-2 is Temporarily Available at a Discounted Price to Celebrate its First Flight Anniversary!

The maiden flight of the light twin-engine Bo 105 helicopter took place on February 16th 1967 at the Messerschmitt-Bölkow-Blohm airfield in Ottobrunn near Munich. The prototype took to the air with a new hingeless four-blade hub and composite blades, the key innovation of the project. The Bo 105 became the first production helicopter with a rigid rotor and one of the first light twin-engine helicopters. Its design guaranteed reliability and durability, and thanks to it, the Bo 105 could perform aerobatic maneuvers and found wide application in both military and civilian service.

The XM1 (GM) Returns for Operation Desert Storm’s Anniversary!

On January 17th, 1991, the international coalition launched Operation Desert Storm, a response to Iraq’s occupation of Kuwait. The operation began with a large-scale bombing campaign targeting Iraqi air defenses and infrastructure, until February 24th, when ground forces were deployed. In just four days, they achieved a ceasefire and the withdrawal of Iraqi troops from Kuwait. This operation saw M1 Abrams main battle tanks undergo their baptism of fire, demonstrating their superiority on the battlefield.
