In this digest we would like to tell you about our continuing work on improvements and fixes in the game. You can find information about all updates that have been released in War Thunder in the website special section.
Know the enemy by sight
Last time we talked a lot about the importance of protection analysis, a feature that allows you to learn the vulnerabilities of the vehicles in the game. However War Thunder is constantly growing and there are more and more vehicles in the game - the choice of virtual enemies is truly huge!
That’s why we have added the ability to search for threat vehicles by name to the protection analysis. Spend less time searching and more time simulating hits!
Ghost bridge
A curious situation happened on the “Alaska” map. One player told us in a report that after the destruction of the bridge from bombs he could freely drive on it - as if the bridge never disappeared!
However after investigating what happened we found out that the bombs didn’t matter at all! The bridge didn’t disappear - only its visual model vanished and only if some tank with bulldozer blade (for example T-80U) started digging under it.
Digging will no longer erase objects from reality - the ghost bridge will be a thing of the past.
Exceptional quality
You must have noticed that the game’s launcher offers you a lot of presets to select from - from minimal and standard installation to a selection of high-quality models of aircraft or ground vehicles.
In the Steam version of the game to install high quality models you need to add the corresponding free DLC pack to account first - but even if the player didn’t activated them or if he disabled these DLC, the client itself set “Ultra quality of all models” and started downloading extra gigabytes. We have also fixed this bug.
That’s Not All
You’ll find the full list of improvements in a separate patch note — there are lots of interesting things! The operation of the gearboxes in a number of ground vehicles, the operation of radar for aircraft have been corrected and shells with contact fuzes will now be correctly suspended on water.
Once again, many thanks for all your bug reports that you submitted using our special service.

Comments will be premoderatedis it just me but the ricochet sounds more like WoT and unrealistic?
Good. Can you also fix merkava mk1/2 engine? s clipping inside the metal plate behind it and it's like this since they were reward veichles
I understand the commitment to high sound effects quality but how many times you have to change them to get there ;_; Gotta re-learn stuff again the painful way, that is by getting hit a lot
Fixing the radar antennas of the anti-aircraft vehicles, no way, right?
WarThunder is the only on-line game I play. I live a busy life doing other things, such as sitting in my screen porch overlooking the lake, reading a good book and drinking a cold glass of beer. Being retired has its perks. However, I can make the time to express my appreciation for the effort Gaijin puts into game improvements. It is a great game even though I get my ass kicked, more times than I can count. Noch ein Bier bitte.
French M10 crew. Thanks for trying to make the models more accurate, but.... this didn't. The crews should be wearing US tank crew "football" helmets and British style uniforms. The figures used are from 1940 and even less historically accurate than the US crew from the US tree vehicle.
The new sounds for gunfire and how they work in air battles is beyond atrocious. Putting aside the more 'Hollywood' sound in general, which would be ignorable usually, I hear it so often in dumb situations it makes the game borderline unplayable. If a friendly AI MG in frontline fires anywhere near my direction it's the same sound and all as an enemy - to say nothing of when teammates shoot near me. And the lack of direction of where it's coming from. I'm considering turning gunfire sounds off.
Will the aircraft research and cost reduction as well as the foldering of them come out soon, please I love you
It's planned for this summer.
