The PT-16/T14 mod is a later prototype of the current generation German MBT, featuring an autoloading mechanism. German tankers in War Thunder will soon have the chance to add this experimental version of one of the most well-known German fighting vehicles by taking part in the upcoming crafting event!
PT-16/T14 mod, MBT, Germany, rank VI, event vehicle.
Pros
- Autoloaded 120mm cannon
- Superb mobility
Cons
- Mediocre protection
During the development of the Leopard 2 project, German engineers came up with several different hull and turret designs as well as respective combinations. This led to equally many different prototype designs being tested. Among these experimental versions was the Leopard chassis with the PT-14 turret, developed by Krauss-Maffei in the early 1980s.
The peculiarity of this design was the presence of an autoloading mechanism for the cannon, giving it an extremely high rate of fire. Despite undergoing exhaustive tests in Germany, the autoloader wasn’t adopted in the final design of the Leopard 2 and the concept remained just a prototype.
The PT-16/T14 mod will be the top prize awaiting participants of the upcoming crafting event “Export Order”, starting soon in War Thunder. Fitted to the highly mobile hull of the Leopard 2 MBT, the PT-14 turret brings with it an extremely potent combination of the deadly Rh 120 smoothbore cannon coupled with a quick autoloading mechanism which gives the battle-proven Rh 120 cannon a formidable rate of fire of 15 rounds/min before the 9-round feed is depleted. Combined with the vehicle’s excellent mobility, this experimental Leopard 2 has the potential to devastate an opposing force’s flank if a successful breakthrough is achieved!
Leopard 2 is one of the most beloved main battle tanks in the game, its modifications can be seen in literally every high rank battle. The PT-16/T14 mod preserves and increases its advantages, but does not deprive it of its drawbacks - very weak side protection and relatively low turret defense. Like other tanks in the Leopard 2 series, the PT-16/T14 mod relies on an excellent gun, high-tech fire-control system and good dynamics. And now, the auto loader allows you to send opponents to the hangar twice as fast!
Be sure to add this unique early modification of the revered Leopard 2 MBT to your in-game collection by taking part in the upcoming “Export Order” event. Good luck and happy hunting tankers!

Yes, Germany definitely needs more vehicles. What are the minor nations, right?
Unlike Germany, USSR, USA and Great Britain, most of the minor nations have a much more finite pool of vehicles and even less MBTs spesifically. As well as it being something that interests a larger amount if players, those 4 nations have a much wider number of vehicles as well as generally more accessible information that allows us to have more event options for them. Every MBT we take away from the minor nations for an event would only lead to an entirely different set of people asking why it's not in the main tree. It's also worth noting, France, Italy, Sweden and Japan have all had vehicles in events and battle passes all over the last year. In some cases several.
All answers (9)Smin1080p, I understand that and generally I don't have a problem with the major nations getting more vehicles because obviously they made more and have a larger player base. However it's exhausting just how much goes to the major nations when there's already so much for them and some pretty glaring deficiencies in the other trees. Germany, the USSR and to some extent the USA have SO MANY MBTs already and high tier event vehicles. Germany has three, four now, the USA has five! Can't we spread the love out?
Oh. Wow. ANOTHER Prototype Leopard. Because there wasn't anything else, from ANY OTHER NATION, they could have put in place of another high tier Leopard. We should've seen this coming.....oh wait, we did. -_-
All answers (5)Dozer15, Dozer15 You do realize if Gaijin would put a prototype tank from a minor nation like Italy, Japan, Sweden and China into these events then those nations would have less tanks in the regular tree and people would whine about why there are so few in them but they have all those event vehicles locked away for the regular player. Its obvious that only the big nations with lots of prototypes will get a vehicle, besides we just had an event with 2 japanese and 2 swedish vehicles in them.
People here bitching about "AnOtHeR LeOpArD" and "GeRmAnY DeFiNiTeLy NeEdS mOrE vEhIcLeS", but when it was the US getting 3 Merkavas, the M60 AMBT and the VFM 5, while having one of the biggest tech trees in the game nobody complained.
Humans are stupid in general, chill bro
*Actually not the VFM 5 (that's brittish), I meant the XM8 AGS
Autoloading mechanism go BRRRRRRRRRT :D
Does it have thermals?
All answers (6)Jaddman, Never heard on thermals on autoloading mechanism. Thermals makes it more hot? :P
And yet another Leopard.
Yeah, I mean, God forbid it was a prototype for France/Italy/Japan. nah, yet another Rank 6 for the Wheraboos.
All answers (1)Dozer15, France need tech tree vehicles certainly not event ones
and yet another american plane
iRedFox, funny, since its same as Chinese F5A or American premium F5C in the terms of speed etc. It would have shittier armament. But let me tell you this. While Americans did get a jet, its copy paste. But Germany is getting original itself Leopard 2 which nobody even germans have rn, saying that its Leopard with 4 sec autoloader. So you gonna cry about something which is already in the game and its not even top prize or you just look at more important things?
This is a stupid pick for an event called "Export Order". PT-16/T14 was a prototype Leopard that was never exported. the Leone MBT would've been a better pick, since it was a tank designed for export. These crafting events have silly names.
And another horrible crafting event at the end of which there is another tank people will spam into the queues until Christmas, when another event will hit to then have that tank getting spammed into the queues, because layers of grinding and ways of milking players cannot stop with a really nice cherry of matchmaking insanity on top.
Two weeks passed since the last patch and the previous event, and no one has yet finished trying out the new vehicles, and getting over the burn out. Now, we are expected to drop all that to grind for this. And it is a crafting event, liked only by those who sell the parts, so you can make the lion's share out of those transactions. Most people being completely burned out, will cave in and just buy this thing. Hence the bad timing. And after this one is over, a new event will hit. And so on.
You're damn right. It would be really nice if we had a month of no events. Maybe after the W.I.N.T.E.R. event. Just one month without event, BP or else. Just simple grind, enjoying vehicles of all tiers, having fun without any pressure. Dailys would just earn warbonds and we can ready ourselves for the next marathon. But that's unfortunately not the way how this game works. GJ needs to pay bills too.
