The PT-16/T14 mod is a later prototype of the current generation German MBT, featuring an autoloading mechanism. German tankers in War Thunder will soon have the chance to add this experimental version of one of the most well-known German fighting vehicles by taking part in the upcoming crafting event!
PT-16/T14 mod, MBT, Germany, rank VI, event vehicle.
Pros
- Autoloaded 120mm cannon
- Superb mobility
Cons
- Mediocre protection
During the development of the Leopard 2 project, German engineers came up with several different hull and turret designs as well as respective combinations. This led to equally many different prototype designs being tested. Among these experimental versions was the Leopard chassis with the PT-14 turret, developed by Krauss-Maffei in the early 1980s.
The peculiarity of this design was the presence of an autoloading mechanism for the cannon, giving it an extremely high rate of fire. Despite undergoing exhaustive tests in Germany, the autoloader wasn’t adopted in the final design of the Leopard 2 and the concept remained just a prototype.
The PT-16/T14 mod will be the top prize awaiting participants of the upcoming crafting event “Export Order”, starting soon in War Thunder. Fitted to the highly mobile hull of the Leopard 2 MBT, the PT-14 turret brings with it an extremely potent combination of the deadly Rh 120 smoothbore cannon coupled with a quick autoloading mechanism which gives the battle-proven Rh 120 cannon a formidable rate of fire of 15 rounds/min before the 9-round feed is depleted. Combined with the vehicle’s excellent mobility, this experimental Leopard 2 has the potential to devastate an opposing force’s flank if a successful breakthrough is achieved!
Leopard 2 is one of the most beloved main battle tanks in the game, its modifications can be seen in literally every high rank battle. The PT-16/T14 mod preserves and increases its advantages, but does not deprive it of its drawbacks - very weak side protection and relatively low turret defense. Like other tanks in the Leopard 2 series, the PT-16/T14 mod relies on an excellent gun, high-tech fire-control system and good dynamics. And now, the auto loader allows you to send opponents to the hangar twice as fast!
Be sure to add this unique early modification of the revered Leopard 2 MBT to your in-game collection by taking part in the upcoming “Export Order” event. Good luck and happy hunting tankers!

So grind around 70 hours and get a leo with an autoloader slapped in, because who doesnt find that fun?
That moment when the Germans have more high tier reward vehicles than some other nations have in their research trees OMEGALUL
it does not? it have like 2 high tier vehicle? you want me to start talking about merkavas,f-5,xm8?
Maybe because they made more vehicles than certain nations? There's only so much you can add in the minor nations, so it makes more sense to have the reward vehicles come from a major nation.
This thing is 4 second reload at 9.7, and i thought the Type 90 is not allowed to go down to 10.3 because of its auto-loader, Okayge.
BC the Type 90 has Better armour, Thermals and better rounds... if you say the Type 90 is over tierd or suffers,,, it might be a skill issue chief
this thing armor are none-existent, type 90 got better armor than leo 2a4
here comes the pain again
First Comment :V
Neat, looking forward to it.
4sec reload DM23 on mobile chassis at 9.7.....Germany Suffers
A cardboard tractor with the bare fucking minimum of a dart, but "Hihi tenk go fehst, das OP"
Fun fact: This is the 4th time a main reward of a craft / marathon event was a German tank in the past 2 years. There have been 8 of these event since then.
So how does this tie in with "export order"? this is a prototype tank, has nothing to do with exporting... Would have preferred to see some top tier chinese tank exports, those are actually interesting and can help strengthen top tier chinese line ups, what is the point of this thing? Top tier germany is already good enough...
So, its a Leopard 2 prototype but its not named Leopard 2?
yea, i mean the PT-16/T14 mod sounds somehow like a boat...
