Helicopters! A new type of vehicle has appeared in War Thunder in update 1.81 “The Valkyries”, and by tradition, the first ones to take control of this deadly vehicle type will be the Testers..
Become a tester: from 19th of September to 19th of October
How to become a tester
Join the team: complete missions or become the owner of a set of helicopters and unlock access to the closed beta test!

Complete 10 daily tasks to receive tester status and gain access to the helicopter CBT.

Be an owner of one of the bundles and get the tester status immediately.
Terms and conditions:
- A tester star is given for 5 victories if you control any U.S. or USSR vehicle of ranks 5-6 in random battles with a minimum 60% battle activity.
- Receive a unique “Valkyrie” decal for 12 tester stars.
- Daily tasks for “Tester stars” will be updated at 11:00 GMT each day.
- You may only receive one “Tester star” per day.
- You need to win a battle whilst controlling any vehicle of ranks 5 or 6 from the USA or USSR research tree for a guaranteed receipt of the “Tester Star”. You should be in control one of these vehicle by the end of the battle.
- You can follow the progress by clicking your Nickname - Achievements - Helicopter CBT"
If you already purchased one of the bundles, then you will automatically get access to the helicopter CBT.

Helicopters are available in the following modes:
- combined Arcade battles (in air battle mode at BR 9.0 or higher see details in “Game mechanics)

- helicopter arcade battles in “events and tournaments” tab
- helicopter realistic battles in “events and tournaments” tab
Helicopters in update 1.81 “The Valkyries” will be first time available only to CBT participants.

So will we get a "reserve" helicopter once we finish the tasks or do we have to research it somehow?
You will only need to purchase it with SL.
you mean ten tester stars right? not the individual tasks themselves?
there are no tasks, get a star for winning a few games not mulitple tasks
They are great machines. I love mines. Just find your comfortable bindings, I can recommend you setting up a key for rocket salvo, set space for prop pitch and flight altitude. Use the value of disabled axis there, set WEP to no need to hold and use relative control in simplified and full control types. Don't fly high, find a good cover, and always change position after you took some tincans out :) Good luck, godspeed!
I can not believe Gaijin that you did this .. means now can anyone play closed beta test .. why did not you do it with the ships .. this is my last time to buy bundles for CBT ..
It was stated since the beginning that you will be able to get access to helicopters via CBT tasks. And it's not different from addition of any other new research tree to the game anyway.
I really believe helicopters would fit well into air RB/SB/AB From the few custom games I've had the main issue I'm seeing is jets camping spawns of helis (same in combined arms rb), but in air RB the bases are so far apart; a helicopter would not have a hide hard time masking the terrain and using it to attack A.I tanks. It's only real threat then is attackers, but, a heli CAN hold its own against aircraft.
It's not a pretty move Gaijin... It's understandable with warshisps since it's a spearate game mode, but calling "closed beta" something we can't opt out of is not rly fair (we can't since in ground RB we'll face helis, but we can't play them...) And for how long do you plan do run this "closed beta"? Till sales drop?
It's not different from introduction from new tank or aircraft tree, you were facing French tanks for example while not owning them etc.
gromvoiny, Two ground vehicles facing off is one thing. A air combat vehicle vs is a tank is a... artillery raid with no time limit. its a joke.
The whole patch is just a money grab operation bny Gaijin. Nothing to fix the game (Balance, matchmaking, bugs..). But hey lots of people spent insane ammounts of money to buy into top tier behicles, yay !

Why did you remove the bundles ? Could you not wait 1 day for us to test them before deciding to buy? because of this I wont buy either the tank or the heli. that 70$ deal was good.
They were only for preorder period.
