With the Closed Beta Test of Naval forces coming soon,
it is only logical to introduce another of the upcoming Royal Navy beauties.
We would like to present to you the Fairmile C motor gun boat - the older brother of Fairmile D,
already presented to you in a past devblog.
The Fairmile C was a motor gun boat of the Fairmile family - designs, that were based on prefabrication of individual components so that they could be produced by smaller factories and then reassembled as a kits in different boatyards. The Type C re-used an improved hull from the Fairmile A Motor Launch - small vessel made of mahogany and plywood, that were initially used for anti-submarine escorts and as a minelayers. 24 type C boats were built in total, some of which have survived until today.
The hull of the Fairmile C was 110 ft (35m) long and 17 ft (5.3m) wide, with a displacement (weight) of 72 tons. It was powered by three supercharged Hall-Scott Defender petrol engines with a maximum of 900 horsepower, granting the ship a maximum speed of 26.5 knots (about 50 km/h). The crew consisted of 16 sailors (14 + 2 officers).
The boat was armed with single 2-pounder (40mm) QF Mark IIc cannon, single 2-pounder Rolls-Royce cannon, two .5 (12.7 mm) twin and two .303 (7.7 mm) twin Vickers machine guns and 2 depth charges Mk. VII.
The Fairmile C will be regular ship in the British Naval tech tree. It’s fairly quick which makes up for its total lack of armour. Use the agility and speed granted by three powerful naval engines to evade enemy fire and strike before they hit you.
Scare your enemy away by releasing a barrage of tracer rounds from the dual Vickers machine guns. Not working? Then there is an additional solution for you - 2-pounder cannons. Can you imagine the destruction when used against enemy plywood boats? And make no mistake, these small mosquitoes can punch through a fair amount of steel.

Who wouldn’t want to command a ship that took part in Operation Chariot,
the raid on the St. Nazaire docks which was the only Axis-held port able to dock the mighty Tirpitz!
Get ready for this Knight of the Sea - coming soon to War Thunder Naval Closed Beta test.

it was Tirpitz because Bismarck sank two years earlier(or maybe one)
I(all the WT wan
So, the Brithish tech tree, will be made of nothing, but Fairmile modifications...
Well, the US tree will have Elco PT boats, Higgins PT boats and maybe as premium: Vosper and Huckins. And they all use same engines and in general look very similar. There is room for a few dozen variants of each if we just count different armament layouts as a different boat.
tizianenel, Otherwise it's basically 3 different engines (upgrades as war went on) and a very similar hull on all of them, maybe one is a few feet longer or shorter.
Greyhound? M8 Greyhound?! Aww it's just a gunboat. Can 7.7mm machine guns do that much damage?
Still waiting for frigates to be shown. These motor boats with guns aren't satisfying enough.
Still lacks of Imperial might.
what about IT navy?
Will we ever get an italian tech tree? Could you post an update about it? You guys like saying that you're working on it, but will the it. tech tree be a thing in a few months or years?
This is great and all but... "...which was the only Axis-held port able to dock the mighty Tirpitz!" - The salt is so real, GG Gaijin.
Another closed beta test in an open beta test.. such nonsense. But hey! Another way to make money. Thankfully im not hyped whatsoever, i learned my lesson after the ground forces "CBT". The Navy looks boring AF, what is it going to be like? PT Boats duking it out with .50cals while bots drive cruisers and shat in the backround? 10/tenno. Also with the current experience gain it will be painful to grind anything, a couple of friends already quit because of that. But fug the sim players. amirite?
I mean, honestly, you need a freaking week to grind a T4/5 plane.. what is that all about? Not to mention you need 6 vehicles now to progress to the next tier, that's propably 3-5 vehicles you don't want/like/never play. I'm really repeating myself but the 20lv system was way better, you felt rewarded for the time you wasted playing the game. FRB, "Sim" became the biggest joke of em' all.. you get fuck all for playing, honestly, 12 kills, died once, couple of ground targets; 11k rp.. 2hrs wasted
FunreaL, The good news is that they might have to reduce the number of vehicles to unlock next rank when it comes to boats (or ships for that matter), unless they consider minor armament changes worth their own boat - at least the fanmade possible tech trees are struggling to find enough boats to have at least 6 in each rank.
Why don't you fix sparks?? Is it really that complex?? when 50 mk 108 shells slam into a sabre, dont you agree that it should explode?? You advertise this as a competitive game, yet its hard to compete when your bullets do no damage... Please, for the sake of players who actually know what they're doing, fix the EXISTING problems
