A legendary GMC truck chassis equipped with an automatic 40mm caliber Bofors cannon is a French recipe for a powerful, adaptable anti-aircraft gun—and it will roll into War Thunder accompanied by some all new French tanks in War Thunder update 1.75!
Nicknamed the “Deuce-and-a-half” by the U.S. army, the American 2.5 ton triple-axle 6x6 made by GMC is a true army workhorse. GMC trucks were vital to supplying and equipping allies after land operations began in Europe, and more than 560 thousand of these trucks were produced during World War II. They proved invaluable to supply lines and the battlefield. The GMC CCKW 353 was a combat model of the famous truck equipped with a 40mm anti-aircraft gun and used by the French in WWII.
Various allied armies other than the US used the reliable GMC trucks. France adopted a variant of the 1941 model with a simplified cabin design and longer chassis—the military all-wheel-drive (6x6) GMC CCKW 353. Equipped with a 40mm Bofors cannon (very familiar to War Thunder naval warfare testers), the GMC vehicle was transformed into a mobile anti-air defense platform that could also be used against ground targets, such as enemy infantry, lightly armored vehicles, and fortifications.
In War Thunder, the self-propelled anti-air GMC CCKW 353 with the Bofors cannon occupies the medium ranks of the French armor tech tree. The vehicle has no armor, so its role on the battlefield is solely to support allies. The CCKW 353 commander has two types of ammunition available: a tracer, high-explosive fragmenting round perfectly suited for destroying airplanes, and a solid armor-piercing tracer round capable of destroying enemy tanks and armored vehicles.
In addition to this adaptable, French anti-air platform, we are pleased to present some new, French tankman model specially created for the new French ground vehicles coming in War Thunder update 1.75. See you there!

i really hope they dont do with this that they did with the crusader mk1 aa and make it 4.7 cause the bofors is nearly useless in solo mount against aircraft and the if its forced to pair in higher br like the brits aa it will be nearly useless against ground targets since the guns pen is barely enough at 79mm at 10m
Nice am happy to see new things in the game
now the question is, will it be tier 2 or tier 3?
Sexy French American Truck is Sexy
when will the usa get some new aa vehicles?
Hopefully this patch. There's already a user made skink that Phlydaily has tested in a video.
8 ground vehicle Devblogs, yet nothing for new aircraft yet? Surely they could be interspersed more evenly between the many ground vehicle blogs prior to the patch releasing rather than after the patch dropping, eg: the VB.10 blog? Ground vehicle after ground vehicle gets a little repetitive! It would add more variety & for those of us with little interest in ground forces prove to be far less disappointing when we check the Devblogs daily in the hope that we have something to be excited ...
How should I put this... You got the Italian and French airplanes in the last 6 months, you have ~500 airplanes in the game. This is a ground forces patch, and frankly they should focus on ground forces for a bit as some nations are lacking content in that department.
baguette removes bias, France stronk!
Sweet! Kinda futuristic looking somehow? I forget how the 40mm Bofors exactly perform in Naval but this is a nice welcome variety. Now looking forward to the rest of the tree with how unique they are in air and sea. Keep knocking them out the park, modellers!
Little deuce truck - You don't know what I got
i noticed on the Dev server that this is the only SPAA vehicle in the tree! where are the 2 AA versions of the AMX 13 tank? theres a version with this same bofors as well as a double 30mm, similar to the falcon AA
