We’ve been made aware of many of your requests for smaller teams in Air Realistic Battles as 16v16 teams are sometimes overwhelming in terms of the number of missiles at once.
With the release of the upcoming major update, we’ll be adding an option to the Air Realistic Battles game selection window where you’ll be able to turn on smaller team sizes.
This mechanic works in the same way as turning on the option for night battles: if there’s enough players in the queue with this option enabled, you’ll have a chance of getting into an air battle with smaller team sizes.
When this option is enabled, you’ll have the chance of getting into a battle with smaller team sizes (min - max: 6 - 12) instead of a regular battle (min - max: 6 - 16). Further adjustments in the future are possible depending on how sessions go.
This will only be for aircraft with a Battle Rating of 10.0 or higher, where high-end air-to-air missiles are far more prevalent.
Thank you for your feedback on this and we hope that this option for smaller teams will make your experience in Air Realistic Battles more enjoyable. Be sure to enable this option with the release of the major update!

Comments will be premoderatedFor me queue times in 12.7 jets have consistently been multiple minutes. Thank you for giving us the option to have less people, hopefully I won't have to wait as long between matches
Could it be we have an option "Doesn't mind" so we get any kind of team size?
Starduix#1, Just switch this option on - if there will be not enough players, you will get big battle. If there will be enough - small one. That's easy.
I don't think this will solve issues, but rather as others said: it will create more issues for people with less performing aircraft or with stock configuration (where they lack potent armament and modules like G-suit, engine etc.). People will still flock to the middle of the map and squad players will gain bigger advantages over solo players and OP vehicles will become more OP.
You will have the "chance"? that doesn't sound correct "chance" why not just get into a game not having to worry about chance and it just puts you into the game without having to bet on a chance?
Wow what a disappointment, i was expecting to have as a first release 8v8 matches maximum that you could toggle as to never get 16v16 matches... are you telling me that not only i can get 12v12 that doesnt do anything for the terrible gameplay at top tier but i also still got the chance to have to play 16v16??? Please devs you can do better than that. And to be honest i would just leave matches that are above 8v8, i just cant take these terrible 16v16 battles anymore it is just too boring.
Can you please add a third option for both this and Night Battles so that we can choose to WAIT in queue for the 8v8 or Night Battles? Rather than simply needing luck to get into them. It should be a three-way toggle, Left being an opt-out, Middle being what we have now (simultaneous queue), Right being ONLY queueing for the 8v8/Night battles.
16 v 16 should be toggleable option not the other way around. A majority of top tier players dislike such large battle sizes. You've liked doing polls recently this should've been one of the things you did a poll on, what battle sizes top tier players enjoy the most.
Instead of balancing team sizes around a single furball at the center of the map, why not add air RB enduring confrontation so people are incentivized to spread out?
When is Air Sim gonna get some love? Top Tier Ground Sim should be available all the time
How about making it 6v6 or 8v8 max, Most people I ask think 12v12 is still to big with to much going on to play tactically in rb
