We’ve been made aware of many of your requests for smaller teams in Air Realistic Battles as 16v16 teams are sometimes overwhelming in terms of the number of missiles at once.
With the release of the upcoming major update, we’ll be adding an option to the Air Realistic Battles game selection window where you’ll be able to turn on smaller team sizes.
This mechanic works in the same way as turning on the option for night battles: if there’s enough players in the queue with this option enabled, you’ll have a chance of getting into an air battle with smaller team sizes.
When this option is enabled, you’ll have the chance of getting into a battle with smaller team sizes (min - max: 6 - 12) instead of a regular battle (min - max: 6 - 16). Further adjustments in the future are possible depending on how sessions go.
This will only be for aircraft with a Battle Rating of 10.0 or higher, where high-end air-to-air missiles are far more prevalent.
Thank you for your feedback on this and we hope that this option for smaller teams will make your experience in Air Realistic Battles more enjoyable. Be sure to enable this option with the release of the major update!

Comments will be premoderatedThank you for the option turn on button, I'm glad ill still have my 16v16. Small team battles would be to boring for me to play, it's not for me. Thanks again for keeping us big and small team players we're everyone can have fun playing the game.
Yes, smaller teams in air rb are great, but please, dont give me a 6v6 with 4 bombers in my team
Hey, ty for listening to the feedback and implementing smaller teams. My concern is that we will only get 12 players teams, and almost never smaller teams, which I hope to see in the future. I personnally believe that 8v8 or even 6v6 should be the end goal to allow players to fully exploit the potential of Fox-3 missiles, for a more attractive gameplay.
Awesome. Would be amazing to add more variety to matches in ARB, like a simulation-like "match rules" but the physics and controls of realistic. Would be a perfect environment for the new fox 3:s and also to add AWACS in!
This is a very positive shift, thank you!
Make it an option not this "possible" bs... and why there isn't more options already of 2v2 4v4 etc is beyond me... do better listen to what the community has asked for years.
12v12 might still be too much, but we will have to wait and see. If it ends up being too much still, I hope it is adjusted accordingly in the future. Also, perhaps we get Air RB EC in the future? We have so many awesome jets in the game, I think we need more ways to enjoy them.
An option? For something that only improves QoL with no major downsides? Also 12vs12 isn't a big leap from 16vs16, should've been 8vs8 or even 6vs6. I mean still better than nothing but still, this isn't it, this won't fix the issue that 16vs16 generates.
Why werent map sizes increased to Enduring Confrontation sizes and the timer put back to 1hr. The current issue with air rb with 16v16 is the lack of space and time to use these aircraft. Meanwhile in RB EC 16v16+ is perfect. The option to add less numbers is an interesting one, but doesn't get to the core issue of matches being too short with maps far too small for current weapons/aircraft and future vehicles.
It's nice and all, but why is it only for br 10.0 and higher? Matches for props are 16v16 too, and ever since that change I personally find air realistic battles less fun than it was before since it turns into the same giant furballs that leaves a few people that flew a bit sideways at major disadvantage.
