The “Red Skies” update is almost here! While the development team is finishing work on the update, we are describing another useful game mechanic coming to War Thunder tank battles in the upcoming “Red Skies” release.
Now light tanks and squadmates can help extinguish fires. The new mechanic works in a similar way as repair assistance: you need to drive up to a burning vehicle, wait for the indicator of assistance for firefighting, and after holding the help button, the ally will stop burning. In this case, one kit of fire-fighting equipment on the helper tank will be depleted.
The new mechanic works for burning tanks that are not able to extinguish the fire on their own - the FPE kit has run out or has not yet been installed. The firefighting assistance function makes light tanks even more useful on the battlefield, as well as improving the survivability of allies in a squad.

Great change, mechanics that improve teamplay always get a +1 from me. This leads us to the next question, however, are the devs considering the replenishment of fire extinguishers on capture points? Maybe a mechanic similar to that of crew replenishment can be added.
that would be great! +1
This is a must. We are able to reload smoke, ammo, and crew, but not FPE? I don't see why this shouldn't be the case. This would really make the game much more enjoyable to play, as I can already see players not wanting to help extinguish other fires as they will not be able to replenish their FPE at capture points.
Gaijin should implement that FPEs can be reloaded at capture points now.
Your not wrong it's painful to burn to death
I agree, but the reload on them should be very long, that way the tank cannot sit there and absorb shots to the engine all day if it has good turret armor. (Plus receiving a critical hit gives 20 sp every time, so this would amount to quite a lot of SP). The reload should not be super long so that they can reload at least once by the time they extinguish twice, but they should not be able to keep doing this forever.
This is great! But, I do not think that to many players will help others put out a fire. Since this uses one of your own fire extinguisher. If you cloud resupply FPE equipment on capture points or in spawn (so that you can not sit on a cap point and just be set on fire and just get a new FPE making you very hard to kill). Making FPE a resupply able thing will make people more willing to help others. I suggest making it so that you resupply FPE in spawn, or that you have separate FPE for allays.
If the replenish speed on capture points was slower than average reload speed then there wouldn't be an issue with tanks being hard to kill.
Exactly! Though I feel like replenishing FPE in a cap point could work if they make it a very long reload, so that it's not possible to camp cap points like you said. This would force the player to make the choice of "Do I wanna wait for a minute (or however long it would take) at the cap to get FPE again, or do I go in and risk it?'' Kind of like the ADATS having a long replenishment for it's missiles.
Great mechanic. Always hate to see allies burn to death.
Gaijin: Huh? what? You guys want premium Flamethrower tanks? Ok. Update 2.9 "Its BBQ time"
I should add that a similar change to Naval would be nice. Perhaps for any friendly ship to be able to help.
Gunship, when it comes to naval, you're a genius. This is a great idea.
you already can help team mates in naval...
When are you going to make FPE and spare parts default equipment and make FPE's reloadable? It's just plain stupid the way it is where a high tier tank can be near useless for over a dozen games until these absolutely required modifications are researched, and then you often have to further research necessary ammo on top of that to even start being useful. It's just ridiculous.
Parts and FPE will never be default equipment, the frustration from having to research them makes enough people buy GE and spent them on the aforementioned modifications.
I rather like having stock tanks not equipped with FPE and parts, it really adds to the immersion of a game when a tank can occasionally be disabled rather permanently unless they receive help from allies with the parts they need. I can deal with the possibility of my tank being disabled for a short period of time when I first unlock it, considering they could just 1 shot you anyway.
What about replenishing fire extinguishers on Cap Points?
At least add mechanism for reloading FPE in points
Great change! Thank you.
Excellent addition! I've wanted to see this in the game for a long time and I'm very happy to see it.
