World War has begun, soldiers! Mobilization!
Attention! Outdated news format. Content may not display correctly.
We knew from the very beginning that World War mode would become an inherent part of the game that would allow all aircraft, ground vehicles and fleet so accurately recreated in the game, to truly shine in historical battles.
Today we are proud to announce the new start of World War mode!
World War is beginning with “Recon under Fire” - it’s the name of the first season which contains “The Battle of the Vitebsk”, “The Battle of El Alamein”, “Northwind” operations and “The Battle for Caen“. Fight for valuable awards until the 10th of June as a member of a squadron or be a lone fighter. World War is open for everyone!
War Thunder is a game about war.
A world war.
The War Thunder Team

Whilst we understand that the flavour of the mode will not suit everyone (as we each have our own preferences), we really would suggest that everyone should try the mode and see for themselves, many existing testers like it, and we do feel many that haven't tried it yet will like it. There has been some initial playtesting and changes especially centred around the markers concerns and the solution (which is different to both arcade and tournaments) introduced in the mode, seems to provide the best answers. We will clarify the functionality around these in the near future - perhaps with a video. However pre-judged conceptions before the wide open stage of testing, where many more people will get to experience what this unique mode will have to offer will mean that many people will miss out on a refreshing new way to experience War Thunder.
its honestly worth a try. and, there's only one way to find out if this is worth it
if it is anything like arcade I am out.
If it's RB with markers, I think I'll sit this out.
i hope its sim or at the very least rb (stats and fly/drive model) with camera lock as it was sim so we can enjoy a mode without 3rd person view abuse.
Frozzen18094, probally not
oooooo boiiiiiiii forget about ur stupid laclrurk this is better
Yeah, "Realistic" and "historic" mode with arcade bombsights, markers and arcade sights of AA is better than yet another unfinished tank model.
SoloWing_Makarov, *cry *cry Always the whining salt spreaders
How to make a teaser trailer without actually revealing anything XD
They revealed map at least
Hard to reveal anything if everything is already explained in the wiki
What, seriously, they made it like arcade? That's terrible. Don't call it historical and then make it like an arcade mode. It's like how this game is billed as a simulator, and then you guys go oh it's just a game. Most of your commited and passionate player base are here because it's more realistic and historical than World of Tanks, don't spit in their faces by trying to trick them with these descriptions and then go and make it arcadish to try and pull casual players from World of Tanks
You mean "what remains" of their commited and passionate player base. most have left. for precisely these reasons.
JTB211, I have to agree. Me and my mate were so hyped to try World War Mode last night. We spent 10 minutes trying to get into a match with an overly complicated match finding system, and then after getting into a battle, it was Poland limited by 5 types of vehicles, and most of which you couldn't spawn in, and also names over aircraft and leading target indicators. I don't even want to play WT anymore. They say they've been working on this for ages, yet it feels worse than standard RB battles.. wtf
will i be historically clubbing shermans in my tigor now
then historically, your transmission will fail every other mile as well (;
DaanDude, well the "J" key is your best friend.
As I thought, no Japan, Italy and France
luckely not becouse if u wnna play france its boring to just drive around waving white flags
Fuhrerius_HANZzZ, lol
This better be available for solo players aswell cuz i don't play WT to making friends.
Yes, you can take part of battle as solo player. That's what I did during tests.
It will be available to both squadrons and solo players.
"War Thunder is a game about war. A world war." lol Buy tier 6 premiums, have some helicopters, oooh what's that o_O - 1980's missile systems, it's what the community wanted. This game lost it's Identity with MBT's in 1.71, and modern stuff has been pushed so hard after that, but hey it's about a world war :) ! Inb4 people make excuses like "they don't specifically say what kind of world war, could be any" Yeah right
finnally somone who knew 1.71 is when they ruind the no one seems to know when it happend but it was all in 1.71
Boblem123, yes ignorant one he pretty much nailed it. the Modernisation of the trees before they had even finished with all of the vehicle for that WW2 era the half finished Ships (Italy and France had Epic Navies just lacked a spine) but this whole new system is a for lack of a better term described only as a Clusterfuck.
If there is markers like AB, i’ll pass on that, markers are a natural cheat, and does not improve players skills, i’ll pass this mode, absolutely not interested in AB mode.
Didn't you know that in real life enemy aircraft had the name of the pilot and the aircraft they're flying hovering above their craft in real life? It's a realistic, historical battle after all..
