World War has begun, soldiers! Mobilization!
Attention! Outdated news format. Content may not display correctly.
We knew from the very beginning that World War mode would become an inherent part of the game that would allow all aircraft, ground vehicles and fleet so accurately recreated in the game, to truly shine in historical battles.
Today we are proud to announce the new start of World War mode!
World War is beginning with “Recon under Fire” - it’s the name of the first season which contains “The Battle of the Vitebsk”, “The Battle of El Alamein”, “Northwind” operations and “The Battle for Caen“. Fight for valuable awards until the 10th of June as a member of a squadron or be a lone fighter. World War is open for everyone!
War Thunder is a game about war.
A world war.
The War Thunder Team

Gosh dang people, it's a BETA test and you wants it to be perfect?
dude, this was promised so many years ago and they had time to work on it
You realise it's been in testing for years, right?
is this arcade? if so consider it out...i wont play it...if its rb with markers, im out...
It's neither of those and it's not sim either.
There are indeed markers..but not AB markers. Only an arrow over the vehicles that you can see. There is also an AB bombing reticle along with a leading indicator for all AA
all we ask is no markers in realistic battles, being able to engage with tanks that you can see takes the realistic flavour out of it now you are going to use this on ww mode, the beta tester always say that this ruins the fun because it just turns into slower arcade
I agree get rid of the markers in tank RB. The markers ruin RB game play and give it an Arcadey feel!
Is it a company goal to make each event more complicated, and less-user friendly than the last? Seriously...this is awful.
This is the worst mode I have played. It's unbalanced, the ui to join a battle is just horrible and laggy and the maps are the same?? Went like 6 matches and I think i'm done with it. Horrible experiance... and before you say it's beta, this was promised years back and you had time to work on it. Ohhh and the E100 event didn't teach you anyhing did it gajin.... just horrible
Will they give something to whoever took part in the World War CBT prior to the opening?
We could get a title and a decal. I got both.
TinyTinkerTank, What does the decal look like?
You can do videos pretty well, but I'm curious about the result.
Congrats Gaijin!! No markers in RB mode and I'm all aboard the hype train. Just be ready for our feedback and don't take it personally. This game mode has so much potential, we just have to see what mechanics it actually has.
There are markers. Granted not as detailed as AB...but markers nonetheless
It's gonna be completely broken for tactics, just as in AB
SB? Great, I'll come back to check it out. Hopefully the maps in WW are better than the ones in the current "chuck players, vehicles and game rules into a blender and see what happens" random battle gamemode
Its not SB...more like a weird mix of RB and AB. There are indeed markers..but not AB markers. Only an arrow over the vehicles that you can see. There is also an AB bombing reticle along with a leading indicator for all AA
KILLERKYLE8094, If so, the majority of the people will be out of it. One of the worst things are markers: it's the denial of every tactic/flanking/ambush attempt, just as it happens in AB.
I'll be honest, if WW mode doesn't come chock full of AI units and potentially AI infantry it'll be a massive missed opportunity. Hell, it wouldn't be hard at all to make the AI part of the player controlled experience too, as far as enjoyable gameplay goes. Not exactly a ton of room to explain here, but it would provide a hell of a lot more interesting uses for player vehicles like SPGs, as well as allow the inclusion of another vehicle class and gameplay mechanic through C&C mech infant...
