We are pleased to share with you some new ground force vehicles planned for the upcoming War Thunder major update 1.81: The Argentinian-built TAM light tank in the German tech tree, and the American rapid fire high-caliber SPAA M247 Sergeant York.
TAM (Germany)
The TAM is a tank which was jointly developed by Argentinian and German engineers in the 1970s. It was intended to replace the outdated WW2 tanks in service with the Argentinian army at the time. Tankers can look forward to the addition of the TAM to the German ground forces tree with the release of update 1.81!
One of the TAM’s highlights is its primary cannon armament. Equipped with an Argentinian FMK.4 Modelo 1L, derivative of the British 105 mm L7 cannon, sporting a wide selection of highly effective ammunition choices ranging from fin-stabilised sub-caliber rounds over HESH and HEAT, the TAM is perfectly suited for engaging a multitude of targets even at longer ranges. Apart from the main cannon, TAM drivers will also have two 7.62mm machine guns - one mounted coaxially and one on top of the turret to serve as an anti-aircraft deterrent.
M247 Sergeant York (USA)
The M247 Sergeant York is an American SPAA, developed in the late 1970s as a much needed replacement to the outdated M42 Duster and M163 VADS. Although its development was far from smooth (or successful), the M247 brought with it several modern design choices to the American SPAA concept. Eager to receive a second chance at fulfilling his historical role, the Sarge has set out to join the top tier battles of War Thunder with the upcoming update 1.81!
In War Thunder, the M247 Sergeant York will be a new rank VI SPAA vehicle for the American ground forces tree. Although some keen-eyed players might have already recognized the familiar look of the 40mm Bofors cannon protruding through the front of the turret, don’t draw any conclusions just yet. Indeed, those are 40mm Bofors barrels sticking out of the turret front, but that doesn’t tell the whole story. As a matter of fact, these two 40mm Bofors L/70 cannons feature a combined rate of fire of up to 600 rounds/min - 2.5 times faster than those installed on the M19 or M42 Duster! If an extremely good rate of fire wasn’t enough of a deterrent for enemy aircraft, then the sudden appearance of what would seem to be a million small flak clouds generated by proximity-fused high-explosive shells fired by the M247 is guaranteed to discourage any pilot from following through with his attack run.

Gajin please, give TAM APFSDS as stock round, please..
It will be nice if the US finally gets a good SPAA, against ground targets as well.
TAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAM
Wasnt the M247 like really bad irl?
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/M247_Sergeant_York some technical problem.
HapIntelligent, "Technical problem" is understating it lol
Here in a argentinian group we are screaming all over the place! We are so happy
TAM looks so cool.
I don't care about the tam that much, but that SPAA... Oh I look forward to killing Mi-24s with it!
And PROXIMITY FUSES???
lol It's the failed York that can't even hit a drone flying in a straight line, let alone a stationary one. Be realistic Gaijin, is the ingame York going to be really the York considering it's real history. Fake news confirmed :P
Exactly what I was thinking. WIsh they would quit beating it around the bush and just add missiles to everything.
Still waiting on a better british SPAA, british 10.0 tank, and british light tank line.
