Tankers! The damage model of non-armoured and lightly-armoured vehicles (with up to 25mm thickness of hull armour) has been refined in update 1.65.1.181. These vehicles have in fact, quite weak resistance when being hit by powerful high-explosive shells, like shells that contain 700g of TNT. To calculate the destructions for such vehicles, new mechanics have been added to the game - “Hull Break”. It means that the vehicle will be out of action when hit by shells with the capacity above the threshold.
Among those that are in the game, on the kinetic impact, hits with penetration of the shell of 150mm calibre on any part of the hull or turret (inclusive of the breech). Or even hitting following penetration of few structural elements of shells of small calibre, upwards of 75mm and higher. For HE shells, impacts by 75-76mm HE shells to the hull or turret will be effective. For large calibre HE shells (122-152mm) hits to chassis components will be counted as fatal. .
For greater clarity, it is planned to add the damage representation on the hit camera that will demonstrate the process of taking damage to the hull with such hits in one of the next updates.

I think that most of you are thinking of the armor thickness used as the damage model, and are neglecting to note that nearly every vehicle in the list is an open-topped vehicle. I think they have done this to "bare" the exposed crew members more on such vehicles, which has been needed.
I don't understand all the complaints. Obviously, if a light truck is hit by a large calibre shell, it will tear in half. It's not just about the armour thickness, but the strength of the vehicle's chassis. The Leopard, for example, has very thin armour, but a hit from a 152mm shell won't rip it in half.
Thank you so much Gaijin! This was a mechanic that should have been in a while ago. But development is development and it is nice to see you guys reducing the effectiveness of SPAA such as the Kugleblitz and the ZSU-57. This makes much more sense when fighting these vehicles and having them tank damage. Again, Thank You!
War Thunder = eternal beta
Oh no, a company adding more and more content, what a shame... Jeez dude, how pathetic are you?
Does this change damage from bombs striking nearby in any way, or high caliber HE shells impacting on ground right next to tank?
Well, first instance of this I saw was me shooting a near miss (a track width or two away from the tracks, according to regular replay) with 150mm HE shell (Ho-Ro) against an LVT. felt good to have 1km+ oneshot on first try but is that intended?
tizianenel, The LVT isn't included in list of vehicles affected and only direct hits are supposed to be affected (with 150mm caliber HE shell, an impact to 'chassis components' should be required as I understand it from reading)
too bad that 1000 Lbp bomb cant penetrate helmet instead it bounce of the head than waits 50m away for fuse to explode and do nothing.
Would have to review your damage models on most tanks because this game becomes one-shot all the armor angles does not work with shells that should not pierce one-shot meme angler so :(
Like someone pointed it already the Chi-Ha 120mm gun is excluded from the 122-152mm HE shells rule, 2 mm's is nothing , it should be included in the guns able to do those damages if hitting the chassis. As for the rest now in AB planes are able to one shot those vehicles by ramming them apparently, i crashed on a flak bus, not intentionally, and insta killed it, will have to test this more but if it's the case something have to be done in AB for planes able to kill ground units that easy....
What I would like to know is why my rounds do not have the same effect as the ppl Im fighting against when ever Im hit I cant do anything for 30 to 60 seconds and wben I hit the enemy even with a critical hit they just drive off,I also hit a guy one night 13 times with an 88mm round and all I got was no damage or it would not even acknowledge that I fired at all.
