“Better than honor and glory, and History’s iron pen, was the thought of duty done and the love of his fellow men.” — Richard Watson Gilde
November 11th is a day that is celebrated worldwide by both the military communities and the people for which they once protected. Originally celebrated to commemorate the close of WWI in Great Britain. The first Armistice Day celebration was held at Buckingham Palace on November 11th, 1919 with King George V raising a toast to veterans and hosting a banquet in honor of the French President.
Since this day, many countries around the world have observed this date as associated with honoring their veterans of all wars in their own way. For example, in the United States, Armistice Day was converted to Veterans Day in the 1950’s by President Eisenhower as a way to honor those that had served and died as well as those living. Some countries like the U.K. have official ceremonies for both Armistice Day as well as Remembrance Day on the following Sunday.
Veterans across the world exemplify the ideals that every society holds - Honor, Integrity, and Courage and it is their undying sense of sacrifice that inspires the young and old among us to be better. From the Field of Flanders, the frozen streets of Stalingrad, and the Jungles of Vietnam. We here at War Thunder would like to say a sincere thank you to the Men and Women around the World who give and have given every day so much for so many.

They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old: Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn. At the going down of the sun and in the morning We will remember them. When you go home, tell them of us and say, For your tomorrows these gave their today.
Finaltly a post about the end of WW1. Thanks
Some great comments here guys, thanks for taking the time to remember. o7
LESS WE FORGET !!
Lest we forget
“Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it.”
If in some smothering dreams, you too could pace Behind the wagon that we flung him in, And watch the white eyes writhing in his face, His hanging face, like a devil’s sick of sin; If you could hear, at every jolt, the blood Come gargling from the froth-corrupted lungs, Obscene as cancer, bitter as the cud Of vile, incurable sores on innocent tongues,— My friend, you would not tell with such high zest To children ardent for some desperate glory, The old Lie: Dulce et decorum est Pro patria mori.
Thank you to all the brave men and women that have served for the great or good of this world. Whether it was fighting for the side that most called bad or evil, they still gave their lives for their cause. In WWI there was no good and bad side, there was only the side you chose to fight for and what you felt was right. I live in America so I would like to give a special thanks to all the Men and Women that serve, have served, and that will serve in the future. Thank you
I live in the middle of "Flanders Fields" and still every day till today unexploded war ammunition is found in 2015 a staggering 250 TON. Experts believe that still for th next 50 to 100 years to come ammunition will be found. Be assured, for those like us living in this small pocket in Belgium, the war will always be remembered if not by the daily amount of ammo then by the sight of the numerous war graves in this region see https://www.greatwar.co.uk/places/ypres-salient-cemeteries.htm
We should be so thankful to those who served so that we could peacefully play at war.
