23 new and improved vehicles, two locations, High-resolution Texture Streaming and many other novelty changes! According to our recent good tradition, the wait for a new major update has not been too long. Meet - update 1.63 “Desert Hunters”!
New Locations
Pilots will receive a new aircraft location in "Greece", inspired by the Mediterranean landscape. Stunning scenery and unique Greek rock formations is included. Another map in this update where air warriors can gain help from ground vehicles. "Sinai" - a desert location on a peninsula on the Red Sea, just on the border between Asia and Africa. What can warm us up better this fall than a good battle in the desert, where temperatures reach 40 degrees Celsius in the shade!

Ground Vehicles
What can you use to hunt in the sand amongst the sun bleached rocks, boulders and ancient castles? What about some missile armament? The FV438 “Swingfire”, our first British non-premium vehicle equipped with ATGMs. Among the 15 new vehicles in this update - a top ZSU, a new modification of the "Leopard", and real land ironclad - the multi turreted British A1E1 Independent.

Aircraft
Nine new and improved aircraft: The Japanese lineup is replenished by three aircraft, the US has a new "jet" added, the British tree has been reinforced with a couple of new twin-engined aircraft and Germany has the first superheavy "flying boat".

Why is the client downloading 10 GIGS of content????? Dont tell me the update is so big. BTW, Fix your bottleneck files access - I havent seen such a slow d/l in a while - 400KB/s to 1.8MB/s at best. WTF? Is there a secret art of speed things up here?
I guess you missed this: '“Texture Streaming” is the main technical addition to update 1.63 Desert Hunters. To support this technology, we've improved the compression algorithm for all textures, so in 1.63 our players will have to download them again.' In short - you have to re-download a lot of the old content in a different form. BTW, I downloaded 11.3 GB in 68 minutes (~2.77 MB/s). It's far from my best speed on WT updates, but it's still fast enough to ignore any preload features.

Hm. Intersting. Why they add new vehicles when some things in game needs complete rebalancing. Tigers and Panthers meet Centurions in realistic. Panthers 2 and T-34-100s consist the majority of teams in realistic and simulator while there were 1-2 prototypes build ( this concerns Tortoise and Black Prince, also T29 and many others). I thought that this was a game for realism and still I hope that it will become better in the future.

the update is very very nice btw! Thanks Gaijin, even its post war. if there is more coming up.. please separate warthunder with postwar and wwii era, coz of the tech they use. consider please.
HardeKern, Gaijin, please seperate mousies from joysticks, cos of the tech they use. One is 21st century space and the other at least close to WWII. But, of course, you wouldn't even consider that...

New models are nicely done ...but several are pure premium, no cockpit for Brigand (and a load of other older models), .303's still sound bad.

I'm kind of concerned about the FV4202 though. An experimental tank from 1959 at BR 6.0 where it fights Tigers, Panthers and IS-2? And then even in the regular tech tree and not at least Premium? Come on Gaijin. You can do better. That's too much immersion breaking
