Hey everyone! The Heavy Cavalry update has just released, yet we’re already working hard on content for the next major update. Today, we’re taking a peek behind the scenes at the first work-in-progress images of the Australian CA-27 jet fighter.
This is an Australian design based on the American F-86 Sabre jet fighter with a new engine and armament. It features the Rolls-Royce Avon engine and the machine guns have been replaced with 30 mm ADEN autocannons, plus there is new ordnance, new to the F-86 series.
Despite its visual resemblance to the Sabre, the CA-27 is essentially a new aircraft. Using the Avon engine required redesigning the air intake and the entire rear fuselage; modifications were also made to the wings to accommodate fuel tanks alongside a full complement of external weaponry. The CA-27 model for War Thunder is being built from scratch, currently our team of artists are looking at documentation and photographs, adding increasingly detailed elements to the model.
The CA-27 will take its place in the British research tree, filling a gap in the early jet fighter line. This aircraft is a maneuverable dog fighter that the tree lacked at these ranks, offering handling familiar to Hunter pilots, but now in the agile airframe of the Sabre. We’ll showcase the results of this work closer to the update’s release!
Please note that vehicle specifications and model visuals may be subject to revision and change before being added to the game.

YEAHHHHH!
Finally! This thing is LONG overdue.
Finally a new design to add to my collection
Which version is it going to be? Mk 30 or 32?
This plane should have been added to the game YEARS ago, back when 9.3 Sabres were the top tier aircraft at the time for their respective trees, it would have been an excellent addition for the UK tree. Glad to see it, but extremely disappointed in how long it's taken for this beauty to be added to the game.
Keep up the communication Gaijin, its what we want, transparency. Also great work from the devs, the model looks really well made, can't wait to see the livery put on it!
This new format is interesting, feels more transparent somehow, wanna see how this is going
Love the behind the scenes look
nice format
Good work Snail 🐌
