Today we’re talking about the graphical rework of the Ash River, 38th Parallel, and Ardennes (Winter) locations and arresting gear at ground airfields!
Ground Battle Locations
The Heavy Cavalry major update brings great news for tankers and pilots! First, we’d like to show you the first screenshots of the locations for Ground Battles. The game environment, objects, buildings, and roads have been completely redesigned for the 38th Parallel and Ash River locations, and a new version of the winter Ardennes map will be added. On all maps, we’ve strived to preserve the navigation and gameplay players are familiar with, while also implementing a major visual update aimed at creating a more realistic, atmospheric, and cinematic combat environment. We hope you enjoy!
Ash River
38th Parallel
Please note that the 38th Parallel location is temporarily unavailable in random battles until several issues that are causing performance drops are fixed.
Ardennes (Winter)
Arresting Gear
Another piece of good news is the addition of arresting gear at ground airfields! An arresting gear is a system of cables arranged in a series, connected to the braking system, that simplifies aircraft braking on aircraft carrier decks and short runways. An aircraft equipped with an arresting hook attaches to one or more sequentially arranged cables, significantly reducing the landing run. Now, at land-based airfields for aircraft with the arresting hook, it will be deployed automatically when the landing gear is lowered — press “G” by default to lower the landing gear!

You keep "updating" the maps, but only visually?? not actually making them better and more balanced, but keep using tiny maps when will we get bigger ones?
I hope that ash river did not change too much. I liked the height differences and especialy the valley at the A point! I just hope that the snipig position on the rocky hill gets fixed.
I very much so enjoy being able to use the arrestor hook on aircraft that in the past had not place to use it, but I have to ask, for what br/ranks will this feature be implemented in?
Heck yeah! I've been waiting to see arrestor cables on airfields for a long time
Arresting hooks should be manual, otherwise I literally can't land normally
A small detail but I know it would be appreciated is if there was the option to lower the tail hook manually. Similar to auto-control of flaps and landing gear that's available, it would be a great quality of life change.
oh man, Ash River was one of the first maps added to ground forces back in the day, many years of good memories there, looking forward to the update!
Arresting gear is a decent new feature to hear about, that means not only the naval aircraft can stop faster on the ground, but also the air force plane like F-15 F-16 which also has the landing hock can stop quicker
What if we want to use all the runway to land. Will we be able too? Can we land normally
