Today we celebrate the 220th anniversary of the Royal Navy’s greatest triumph. On October 21st 1805, the Battle of Trafalgar took place, where the Royal Navy, led by Admiral Horatio Nelson, defeated the superior forces of France and Spain. This confirmed Britain’s status as mistress of the seas!

The arrival of the first of these, HMCS Niobe in the port of Halifax coincided with the Royal Navy’s main holiday, the anniversary of the Battle of Trafalgar on October 21st. In 2014, Canada decided to replace the British holiday date with its own, and since then October 21st has been Niobe Day.

HMS Iron Duke is on Sale for the Anniversary of its Launch!

HMS Iron Duke is one of the most famous battleships from the First World War. She was laid down on January 12th and launched on October 12th, 1912. During the Battle of Jutland, HMS Iron Duke served as the flagship of the Grand Fleet, and after the First World War, as the flagship of the British Mediterranean Fleet. During the Second World War, she defended Scapa Flow harbor from Luftwaffe raids.
