This reserve tank was the basis for most of the great American tanks used in World War 2 including the famed Sherman. Although crude in some areas, it also introduced many successful features. In game it is just plain fun no matter what the map, like a Corvette with a big gun!

The medium tank Panzerkampfwagen IV (ordnance inventory designation Sd.Kfz.161), was a reliable workhorse forming the backbone of German armoured forces during the whole Second World War. It has its roots in the first half of the 1930’s: in that time, German strategists were actively developing theories of modern tank warfare.

After the successful deployment of M4A3E2 assault tanks in Europe in the summer of 1944, the US Army saw the need for more heavily armored tanks to enter the battlefield. In December 1944, High Command issued a proposal to the Ordnance Board to create a new version.

The Jagdpanzer 38(t), later nicknamed 'Hetzer', was a German tank destroyer based on the chassis of the Pz.Kpfw. 38(t) light tank of Czech origin. It was a successful vehicle in its role and used widely across the all fronts in Europe until the end of the war.

The IS-2 (for Iosif Stalin) Mod. 1944 was a Soviet late-war heavy tank designed for the final assault on Europe. The powerful 122 mm D-25T cannon in combination with heavy armour made it an efficient breakthrough tank and a force to be reconed with.

The ISU-152 was a Soviet heavy SPG built on top of an IS chassis and equipped with a ML-20S howitzer cannon. The powerful gun can have devastating effects on its enemies, but slow reload and limited maneuverability are serious drawbacks.

The Kawanishi N1K2-J «Shiden-Kai» was a land-based Japanese Army Air Force fighter of late World War II. Feared as an enemy and liked by it's pilots, it was a sucessful aircraft in its role as fighter and interceptor.

Don’t let this “toy” tank fool you, it can pull its weight even in higher BR battles using its high mobility to spot and outflank. Historically it also showed its mettle against superior armored but slower forces were used successfully in blitzkrieg tactics again and again.

In the 1930’s monoplanes were seen as the future of of aviation, yet this WW1 progeny, possibly the last biplane fighter designed for combat, was not going to let the future come unchallenged. Although it had only a brief operational career, it distinguished itself well.

Marders were liked for their reliability and firepower, and remained in service right until the end of war, even when they were substitued by fully enclosed designs such as Jagdpanzer 38(t) Hetzer. In total, from 1942 to 1944, 942 Marders III were made in the Böhmisch-Mährische Maschinenfabrik AG plant in Prague, and were used on all fronts, including the deserts of North Africa.

The 1950s saw a massive leap in the technological development of aircraft. The dawn of the jet age in the later part of the 1940s was in full force during the 50’s, however whilst much had changed, it was the design philosophy of a 1944 Air Ministry requirement that gave way to one of the RAFs most successful aircraft and bomber design in history.

By the end of the Second World War, the Red Army was seeking to further improve their tank arsenal. Even though the T-34-85 and T-44 medium tanks armed with 85 mm guns were still adequate, the rapid pace of tank development would mean that in a few years they might become obsolete. 

The Panzerkampfwagen VI "Tiger" Heavy Tank is one of the most famous tanks ever produced and, next to the M4 Sherman and the T-34, it has become unanimously associated with World War II. It's fearsome reputation amongst Allied tank crews has cemented it's place in history.

The Iosif Stalin 2 or IS-2 was a Soviet heavy tank arriving in front line duty in 1944. With its powerful cannon and good armour it was a well performing breakthrough tank during the later period of the war.

In June 1942 the Grumman 'Iron Works' released the prototype of what would later become the F6F 'Hellcat'. As a sturdy and fast weapons platform, the new American fighter was a good match to the combat-hardened Japanese A6M Zero, which dominated the skies over the Pacific Theater up until now.

The T-34 is one of the most iconic tanks of World War II. Designed by engineer that sadly never saw his work in action, the T-34 came as a shock to its opponents and left a lasting impression not only on the battlefields of the eastern front.
