Thunderbolt
Here it comes – the Thunderbolt. The Jug that was also a juggernaut. A highly mobile, fearsome beast. According to Peter Henn, a German pilot who fought against the Allies in the skies of Europe, this aircraft instilled fear in the hearts of Luftwaffe pilots.

Leopard 2
During the 1960s, global powers started using second-generation MBTs. But as soon as the first M60s, Leopards and T-62s rolled off the factory floor, engineers of the world started working on improved tanks for the next decade. The first prototypes were ready by the early 1970s. It was around the same time when the name of the design was determined as Leopard 2.

AH-1G Cobra
The Korean war marked the first time when helicopters were employed en masse. These vehicles, which were a pretty rare sight before, proved to be an invaluable asset when it came to reconnaissance, troop deployment and evacuation of the wounded. The clear advantages of this type of aircraft, and especially their ability to dodge concentrated fire, quickly caught the interest of the military who applied considerable funds and resources to develop new models.

BT Family
When somebody says “wheeled tanks”, the first vehicles most people think of are probably the Italian Centauro or the South-African Rooikat, both of which are pretty recent designs. In reality though, the first vehicles of this type appeared as early as the first half of the 20th century. John Walter Christie, a talented American engineer, came forward with the idea for a design that made them possible, and the Soviet military were daredevil enough to roll with it. And so, in the interwar period, the Red Army received their first highly mobile “convertible” tanks with a unique wheels-and-tracks system. They were known as BT tanks, with “BT” standing for “Bystra-khodnyy Tank”, or “high-speed tank”.
