Climbing the ranks with GERMAN TANKS, 2023 edition
On our channel, there is already a video dedicated to the most interesting vehicles in the German tech tree, but we published it a couple of years ago. The game’s changed considerably, especially at high ranks. Germany received new tanks, AA systems and self-propelled guns. Some of them just introduced more variety to pre-existing lineups, but there were also quite a few brand new additions to the roster. That’s why today we take another look at the German tech tree... and talk about the best newcomers!

That’s right: today we’re going to discuss the best piston-engined dogfighters, from the humble I-16 to the lightning-quick Spitfire

Pershing Tanks: Slow & Powerful
Tanks of the Pershing series were accepted into the US service near the end of WW2: they were positioned as a new generation of vehicles based on a promising platform, and a counter to German Panthers. In War Thunder, Pershing tanks are found at the mid ranks of the American and Italian tech trees, and are usually played as highly versatile all-rounders.

The modern Italian defense industry isn’t really known for exceptional fighter aircraft or tanks, but that doesn't mean that the country doesn’t have anything to set it apart from other European or international players. In fact, Italy is pretty good at making helicopters, in large part thanks to a company called Agusta.

German IFVs: From Marder to Lynx
It’s not 100% clear which vehicle is the actual first infantry fighting vehicle. Yes, the Soviet BMP-1 had unique capabilities for its time, but Germany also has a pretty strong claim. The precursor of all modern IFVs, the HS.30, was developed by Germans in as early as the late 1950s. And in 1969, they introduced the Marder, a fully-featured infantry fighting vehicle with protection from small-arms fire and shell splinters.
