The Messerschmitt Me 163 ‘Komet’ (English: Comet) was originally designed by Dr Alexander Lippsich, and was the result of a long line of experiments of tailless airplanes and gliders. Under the employment of Messerchmitt in 1939, he created the first working prototype, utilising a rocket engine in place of regular piston engines. However, it was not until 1941 that the Me 163 as we know it now emerged.

It’s official now! No other game in the world can lay claim that they feature more aircraft in a simulation game than War Thunder, which set a Guinness World Record!

June 8th saw the birth of two Soviet aviation giants, Nikolai Polikarpov and Ivan Kozhedub. The former designed the legendary Soviet fighters of the 1930s and the latter became their most successful fighter ace.

A  few interesting facts and considerations that are often taken into account when designing naval aircraft. 

The company was founded in Bremen, Germany  on the 24th October 1923 as Bremer Flugzeugbau AG by Heinrich Focke and Georg Wulf, not long after this, they formalized their association on the 1st of January, 1924 with the creation of Focke-Wulf Flugzeugbau AG. 

By the summer of 1944 the war in the Pacific had turned against the Japanese. A series of clashes with Allied forces had forced the Japanese military into a retreat, surrendering much of their early gains in theatre.
