The legendary in-game King Tiger with the early turret type (commonly known as the “Porsche” turret) will soon be receiving a new visual model and numerous internal module improvements. Meet the redesigned Tiger II (P), coming in the next major update!
First, let’s take a look at the Tiger II (P) from the outside. We’ve given it some general geometry corrections, especially noticeable on the turret, which underwent the most extensive reworking. A protective ring was added around the turret ring, which was previously a very vulnerable area. Zimmerit has now been added to the hull and turret. This is a special compound that was applied to Wehrmacht armored vehicles to protect against magnetic mines, though as far as the game is concerned its purely cosmetic. Spare tracks have been added to the sides of the turret too, slightly increasing the protection. The actual tracks themselves are also new.
Next, what about the internals? The armor will be updated to the more accurate volumetric model, correctly reflecting the dimensions of the tank’s protective structure when it’s hit. The models of the internal modules have also been reworked, becoming more detailed and accurate.

You’ll be able to see the updated Tiger II (P) for yourself very soon! And in one of the future major updates, we also plan to make improvements to the external model of the Tiger II (H), so make sure to keep an eye out for that!

Comments will be premoderatedAs nice as the new model is. The Tiger II didn't need it. The Panther's and Panzer IV are badly in need of a new model probably more than any other tank in the game. And Gaijin doesn't update models on the same nation often.
Step by step
Is there anyone here who doesn't have a comment about correct technical nomenclature...?
Looks really good. Let's hope the Type 5 Chi-Ri is updated someday too.
Does this mean that even the sweedish tiger 2P is getting a new model.
Kungstiger (swedish version) is already a new, different model, it was not a copy-paste of German Tiger II (P) 3d model.
Excellent work on this new model! But slightly off-topic, what are the chances of us getting the German rotating sights from World War II in the game? I know the ones from War Thunder Live exist, but since you’ve added the modern ones, I’m curious if the old ones will be included at some point.
New engine looks good though
Im glad older vehicles are getting new models, mainly new armor models, I hate that some vehicles have fully volumetric and some don't. It'd be cool to see more per update like 3 updated vehicles per major update.
Hey @Stona_WT! For these dev blogs, it'd be awesome to see some before and after shots of the models, in order to highlight the changes better. I obviously believe you when you say things have been updated, but without seeing the difference it's hard to tell for those of us, who can't remember the old versions well enough to tell the difference. :D
We will think on it in future.
This much extra modelling is definately going to make sure more things will break when shot at. Please bring inner remodelling to all nations similar BR vehicles at the same time so the balance doesn't tip off until the others also get it. I love this chance but when others doesn't get it aswell it's not fun to be playing the ones that get it. Happened in the top tier for a brief moment and it was not fun. Please consider this.
Both turrets are made by Henschel, this is just the early or "Pre-production" Turret.
