Hey everyone! Today we wanted to go over some changes happening to the British ground forces tree soon.
After the release of the next major update, some vehicles in the British ground forces tree will be rearranged. These vehicles are marked with a special icon. We’re doing these changes with the aim at improving the structure of the tree, and for the convenience and order when adding various ground vehicles from Great Britain and Commonwealth countries in the future.
After the changes, the MBT line after the Vickers Mk.1 will focus on Commonwealth tanks and export MBTs. The right line will focus on light wheeled and tracked AFVs, classified in-game as light tanks.
With these changes, the ranks of the vehicles will remain the same. In addition, as you can see from the screenshot, there will be some changes to grouped vehicles as well.
We’re announcing theses upcoming changes in advance to give you the opportunity to plan your research path in the game at the current time, with the knowledge of how the British ground forces tree will look in the near future!

Comments will be premoderatedDoes that mean we might see more Commonwealth nations in UK like Singapore? I realy would prefer it Singapore joining UK or Japan over the other leaked option from a while ago
Perfect excuse to bring a Leopard 2 to the UK tech tree :)
Might I make a suggestion, if the Vickers mk7 line is to be based on commonwealth and export MBTs, wouldn’t the Challenger 2E be a good candidate to move over? This would give this line a Rank 8 vehicle. Unless you have something in the works to go there of course.
I mean since Vickers line is consisted from (soon) non-UK MBTs and British MBTs designed for export it would make sense for Challenger 2E as export model of CR2 to be at end of that line and it would give more reason to actually play that line sence as you said there would be top tier vehicle at end of it instead of it ending with Vickers Mk.7.
cant lie this is pretty good makes it a lot easier to sort through it all thanks
This seems like a great addition! South africa is now certainly not the only sub-nation/tree in the British Tech Tree, so making way for the commonwealth nations and giving it a far more logical structure is very much welcome!
This seems reasonable given how all of the place the UK tree has become.
Just add South African tech three please gaijin
Does this mean Canadian Leopards will eventually move to British tree? I really wish you guys would stop with the red vs. blue that GRB is becoming with the units.
I think this is a good change, especially considering some of those tanks and AA already sat in other lines, Can you explain the decision to keep two light tanks (Warrior and Desert Warrior) in their current line and not moved with these changes?
I'd guess its likely due to their missiles they carry, as we see pretty much every missile carrier in the UK tree in that line (excluding AA)
Brilliant rearrangement, makes much more sense for the tree... But is there still a need for the OsA and Strela to be in the tree given other recent vehicle implementations? I would hate to see a “copy-paste” 2S6 in the tree when it has nothing to do with the "British Ground Forces". I do hope the cramming of Subtrees is also addressed in a future Dev Blog o7
They really should have never been in there in the first place, can never see them ever being double exported to the uk or ever being in their military doctrine. Seeing as it was made in russia, sold to India and then used there and completely foregoes the fact that Russia hasn't sold any equipment like such in real life to the UK, with it being more like American weaponry that both nations has, and is more strategically aligned. Tbf the same goes for the tor m1, russian, but given only to China
So why are the warriors staying in the 'TD' line?
While this is different placement than other nations, most all nations have a “Large cannon” and “auto cannon” light tanks before line once you get to top tier. Like US Bradley’s and M1128., sweden, etc.
I guess it is because they carry ATGM same as Strf9040B, C and CV9030 are in light tank line and STGM armed Strf9040 BILL and CV90 Mk.IV with Spikes are in SPG/ATGM line in Swedish tree (no idea why Ratel 20 remains in light tank line though if that is case).
