Shozo Kawasaki was born on August 10th, 1837 in Kagoshima, the city that our recent Naval Event is dedicated to. He was a businessman who worked closely with the Japanese government to establish trade with the Nansei Islands. After being on two ships that were shipwrecked, Kawasaki decided to modernize Japanese ships. He asked for help from fellow countryman Masayoshi Matsukata, who was then the Minster of Finance, and opened a shipyard in 1878. In 1896, the Kawasaki Company was established, and Matsukata’s son (then the Prime Minster of Japan) became its first director. In the 20th century, the company expanded its product range to include trains, cars, motorcycles and aircraft.

About this aircraft
- The Ki-96 is a heavy, twin-engine fighter developed by Kawasaki as an improvement on the popular Ki-45. It is an excellent interceptor, armed with one 37 mm and two 20 mm cannons. Thanks to its excellent performance, it’s also capable of giving other fighters hell in a flyby!

I love when vehicles come back but I already had them :P Feels good to be a true veteran of this game from the very beginning when it was only planes. This is a very nice plane, glad I got it back then and don't regret it today, on my birthday of all days too
Due to the rocket ball ammo that the Japanese used (rather than a cartridge, all the powder is packed into a hollow in the base of the shell) for larger cannons, all 37mm+ guns that the Japanese have are incredibly slow velocity. Its almost like firing a howitzer. Essentially I'm saying don't expect the 37mm on this to be useful at all beyond about 500m and even then it will have massive drop. The 20mms are your only real anti-plane armament on this and AB uses your biggest gun for sighting.
It brought me lots of fun in SBEC during zomber interception sessions, too bad it has no cockpit but there is no chance it will get it's IRL one, if it would get atleast a copy pasted ki102's or ki45's cockpit (and could still be marked as a placeholder) then it would be great and definitely a recommended premium plane.

I believe it was my first premium - a part of the 4-plane pack, 10.000 eagles and some solid premium time, all for $20. Other planes were Typhon IIb, Pe-205, and something else. Good old times. Circa 1.37.
