We’ve been made aware of many of your requests for smaller teams in Air Realistic Battles as 16v16 teams are sometimes overwhelming in terms of the number of missiles at once.
With the release of the upcoming major update, we’ll be adding an option to the Air Realistic Battles game selection window where you’ll be able to turn on smaller team sizes.
This mechanic works in the same way as turning on the option for night battles: if there’s enough players in the queue with this option enabled, you’ll have a chance of getting into an air battle with smaller team sizes.
When this option is enabled, you’ll have the chance of getting into a battle with smaller team sizes (min - max: 6 - 12) instead of a regular battle (min - max: 6 - 16). Further adjustments in the future are possible depending on how sessions go.
This will only be for aircraft with a Battle Rating of 10.0 or higher, where high-end air-to-air missiles are far more prevalent.
Thank you for your feedback on this and we hope that this option for smaller teams will make your experience in Air Realistic Battles more enjoyable. Be sure to enable this option with the release of the major update!

"a chance" and only for above 10.0.. yeah not great.
This is a VERY positive addition. It should also give Gaijin good data on what people truly want.
Should have the option for larger battles as well, lowering the player count wont actually make ARB matches more balanced it will just make them end faster unless gaijin actually gives us a reason to do something other than rush headlong into the furball.
Finally some change. Funny how TEC predicted it in this way.

Boy I sure love playing 6 v 6 on SB map.
Smaller teams should be the default as there would still be far too many missiles in a 12v12 match with the majority of jets carrying at minimum 4 air-to-air missiles from 10.0 upwards. Many jets simply do not have enough countermeasures to survive the missile spam especially as the missiles become more advanced. Map sizes and objective locations mean most players fight in a very small portion of the map leading to a furball which reduces the impact an individual player can have on the outcome.
This is easily the greatest change you've ever introduced
pray do make it the other way around, optional big team matches, I never want to play in a big match.
